Naruto Officially Reveals Itachi Uchiha’s New Design After 22 Years

Itachi Uchiha has barely moved, and somehow he still looks cooler than almost everyone else in Naruto. When he first appeared in the anime in Episode 80, “The Third Hokage, Forever…”, in April 2004, he arrived wearing the unmistakable black cloak of the Akatsuki alongside Kisame Hoshigaki. More than two decades later, that iconic look is getting another striking makeover this time as a brand-new collectible figure.

The official Naruto website has unveiled the NARUTO-ナルト- 疾風伝 Noir Edge Collection-UCHIHA ITACHI-, bringing the legendary shinobi into a sleek monochrome aesthetic with carefully chosen flashes of color. And before anyone reaches for the Mangekyō Sharingan: no, Itachi has not received a new canon character design in the manga or anime. This is merchandise—but it certainly knows how to make an old favorite feel brand-new.

The new figure is part of the Noir Edge Collection, a figure series built around monochrome sculpting with carefully selected splashes of color. The concept uses stark, high-contrast shading inspired by film noir, turning familiar anime characters into something that looks almost like a dramatic piece of display art. For Itachi, that approach is almost unfairly perfect.

The figure depicts him standing while forming hand signs, seemingly moments away from unleashing his genjutsu. His Akatsuki cloak appears to billow around him, with numerous crow wings emerging from the coat to give the otherwise restrained pose some movement. A visual effect around the hem represents the genjutsu itself, adding another layer of menace without turning the sculpture into an overly busy action pose.

The coloring is arguably the biggest departure from standard Itachi merchandise. Most of the figure is rendered in monochrome, while selected details receive color accents. The Akatsuki cloak and Itachi’s ring stand out, while the Sharingan receives a red highlight. Even the character-specific nail coloring is incorporated into the collection’s design philosophy.

And because this is Itachi, the pose does not need to scream for attention. He is literally just standing there and preparing a hand sign. Somehow, that is enough. The figure is scheduled to appear as a crane-game prize from November 2026, with Banpresto identified as the manufacturer through its official prize-figure platform. The Banpresto listing also places the Itachi release within the Noir Edge Collection’s Akatsuki lineup.

Itachi’s Akatsuki design remains one of the most recognizable visual combinations in the entire franchise. His long black cloak, red clouds, scratched Konoha forehead protector, and calm expression immediately communicate that something extremely dangerous has entered the scene. After the Uchiha massacre, Itachi became a rogue shinobi and joined the Akatsuki, eventually operating alongside Kisame.

For much of the story, Itachi is presented through Sasuke’s eyes as the monster responsible for destroying their clan. His return to the narrative therefore carries enormous weight. His encounters with Sasuke expose the terrifying abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan, including Tsukuyomi, while the eventual revelations surrounding the massacre completely reframe his actions. Itachi was never simply the cool guy in the Akatsuki cloak. That cloak became the visual shorthand for a character carrying an absurd amount of guilt, secrecy, and sacrifice.

There is even a neat merchandise-related coincidence in 2026: Itachi has received several different figure treatments this year, including a Grandista figure in Black Ops attire and a palm-sized G.E.M. figure from MegaHouse. The Noir Edge release stands apart by specifically leaning into his Akatsuki identity and transforming it through the collection’s monochrome aesthetic. So, no, Itachi has not returned to Naruto with a brand-new canon character design. There is no new manga chapter or anime storyline hiding behind this announcement.

It is a figure. Just a figure. And yet, put Itachi back in the Akatsuki cloak, surround him with crows, give him those red Sharingan eyes, and let him stand there looking like he knows exactly how the scene ends. And suddenly, 22 years feel like nothing.
