Minecraft Chaos Cubed Update Full Breakdown: New Blocks, Biomes, Mobs & More

The new Minecraft Chaos Cubed update has finally arrived, introducing new Sulfur Blocks and Cinnabar Blocks, the underground biome known as the Sulfur Caves, an experimental Sulfur Cube Mob, new music tracks and more. The addition of Chaos Cubed marks the second major game drop of 2026 and is available in Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.30.

There are plenty of additions to look forward to, so with that said, here’s a full breakdown of the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

1 New Block Sets: Sulfur and Cinnabar

Two new Block sets have been added with Minecraft’s Chaos Cubed game drop: Sulfur Blocks and Cinnabar Blocks, along with Potent Sulfur and Sulfur Spike variants. You can find them inside the underground Sulfur Caves, so take a look at what you can turn them into:

• Sulfur Blocks – New yellow blocks found inside the Sulfur Caves, and the set includes:
  • Sulfur Wall
  • Sulfur Slab
  • Sulfur Stairs
  • Polished Sulfur Wall
  • Polished Sulfur Slab
  • Polished Sulfur Stairs
  • Sulfur Brick Wall
  • Sulfur Brick Slab

• Cinnabar Blocks – New red blocks found inside the Sulfur Caves, and the set includes:
  • Cinnabar Wall
  • Cinnabar Slab
  • Cinnabar Stairs
  • PolishedCinnabar Wall
  • Polished Cinnabar Slab
  • Polished Cinnabar Stairs
  • Cinnabar Brick Wall
  • Cinnabar Brick Slab
  • Cinnabar Brick Stairs
• Potent Sulfur – Potent Sulfur Blocks are a variant of the Sulfur Blocks introduced in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update. They can be used to create bubbling sulfur pools by placing them under water. However, beware, as the sulfur pools emit noxious gas, which can trigger the Nausea effect in players and mobs when they get too close or step inside the sulfur pool. Potent Sulphur Blocks can also be used to create Geysers by placing them on top of a Magma Block and beneath 1-4 blocks of water. These Geysers can send players and mobs flying in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.
• Sulfur Spike: Sulfur Spikes are sharp blocks found inside Sulfur Caves, growing on Sulfur and Cinnabar Blocks and forming on ceilings and floors like stalactites and stalagmites. While they’re practically harmless when stepped on, they can deal damage when they fall from above, which occurs randomly. It can be used to create Sulfur Blocks in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

Apart from these new Blocks, Sulfur Cube Spawn Eggs, and Bucket of Sulfur Cube were added in Minecraft’s Chaos Cubed update, both of which can be used to spawn Sulfur Cubes (use a bucket on a Sulfur Cube for the latter).

2 New Biome: Sulfur Caves

Sulfur Cubes is the new underground biome introduced in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update. This biome is home to Sulfur and Cinnabar Blocks and Sulfur Cubes. Tread lightly as sulfur pools spawn here, and if you get close to it, expect it to be a nauseating experience, as we mentioned earlier. Sulfur Spring is a new structure that is found scattered across the Overworld. It’s easily identifiable as it emits noxious gases, and the sulfur pool is surrounded by Sulfur and Cinnabar Blocks.

Players can dig beneath these structures to discover Sulfur Caves underground, filled with the new Block Sets and the Sulfur Cubes. Sulfur Springs can also gradually trigger Geysers, and you would be wise not to go near them unless you want to fly upwards.

3 New Mob: Sulfur Cube

The new Mob in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update are Sulfur Cubes, and they can be found inside Sulfur Caves. They’re passive Mobs that won’t attack the player, and large Sulfur Cubes can split into two upon death, while the smaller ones can grow larger. However, the Mob’s unique trait lies in its ability to absorb various Blocks and transform its physical properties accordingly. For example, feeding a Sulfur Cube TNT Blocks and then igniting it will make it explode, while feeding it Magma Blocks will make it hotter.

You can experiment with multiple Blocks and see how the Sulfur Cubes transform and become bouncier, faster, lighter, slippery, etc. It all depends on the Block it has absorbed, and numerous wacky combinations are waiting to be discovered. To feed this passive Mob and experiment with it, simply drop or use a Block on it. It’ll absorb it and turn bouncy, including other effects in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

4 New Music Tracks

The new Minecraft Chaos Cube update also added multiple background music tracks by composer fingerspit (Paula Ruiz):

• Ebb
• Home
• Memories
• Nightly
• Shores

Additionally, a new music disc featuring fingerspit’s remix of the song “Bounce” has been added, and it can be found in Minecarts with Chests on Mineshaft structures located inside the underground Sulfur Caves. Overall, the Minecraft Chaos Cubed game drop is a significant one and is now live for players to enjoy.
