However, he became a household name with his appearance as Jack Pearson in This Is Us opposite Mandy Moore.

Fortunately, both escaped unharmed with their dog. However, the crib they had built for their unborn child was lost to the fire. Ventimiglia appeared in an interview with CBS News on January 9th, where he pointed out the destruction left behind with barely held-back tears. 

You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and what not and then you see your neighbors houses and everything kind of around and your heart just breaks.

However, he added that they will pull through somehow, as they have good people around to help them through it. According to him, his focus is on the well-being of his “wife and baby and dog,” who matter the most to him.

Interestingly, his character Jack Pearson in This Is Us, also had a situation where their house burnt down. Ever since then, he has become an advocate for fire safety in homes.

He commented during the interview, “You know, it’s not lost on me, life imitating art.” On a slightly positive note, he stated that this situation has made him determined to figure out measures for wildfire safety and help his community in any way he can.
