The popular German show Maxton Hall: The World Between Us was released on May 9, 2024. Just two weeks after its release, Amazon Prime Video renewed the show for a second season. Now, Season 2 is slated to premiere on November 7, 2025 (via Deadline).
The show revolves around a young scholarship student, Ruby Bell, and a wealthy student, James Beaufort, whose relationship gets complicated over time. Maxton Hall follows the familiar trope of “love conquers all,” but that’s also what keeps audiences returning to a world divided between the elites and the commoners.
Harriet Herbig-Matten, who plays Ruby Bell, and Damian Hardung, who plays James Beaufort, have impressed viewers since Season 1. Their chemistry, Ruby’s determination, and James’s charm make Maxton Hall a binge-worthy watch.

What Is Maxton Hall Season 2 About?
Season 2 will continue from where Season 1 ended. The show is based on Mona Kasten’s bestselling Save Me trilogy, and the third season will be based on the final book in Kasten’s trilogy.
As the story goes, by the end of Season 1, Ruby and James shared a night together in Oxford with chemistry that ruled the charts. Ruby’s dream is almost there, and she seems happy after all the hard work she has done to reach it.
But then, in Season 2, everything changes after James’ mother passes away, and Ruby gets to see the bitter world altogether. For Ruby, it’s her first time loving someone this passionately. Her love is simple yet captivating to the audience as she brings something into James’ life that fills the void with love.
It’s the same for Ruby as well, but things start unraveling in an abrupt manner when Ruby doesn’t feel included in his world. It’s like she was made to not belong there.
While she was hurt by James like never before, she wished to go back to when she was just in the background. Nobody knew her at Maxton Hall, and she wasn’t involved with the glamorous world of elites.
But at the same time, she’s not able to let go of James as he tries his best to get her back. Damian Hardung had this to say about Season 2 (via People):
We kind of knew reading the first draft of the script for the second season that it was going to be much bleaker, but also more honest in a way and more grown up. Which I think is important, because we’ve seen him, the last time, when his mother has just passed away.
The actor also discussed the role on the Short Take podcast, saying it explores darker sides of James not shown in Season 1:
I just did the ADR for it and the second season is really dark and a lot of grief and trauma in my character, I had a really tough time shooting that, it really pushed me to a point where I’m like, I don’t know if that’s healthy anymore. So, I’m really eager to see how that played out on screen
The actor also mentioned that James is changing drastically and working a lot on himself.
