Marvel Rivals Disables Loki Across Multiple Modes Ahead of Season 10 Reveal

Loki has suddenly gone missing from several Marvel Rivals game modes, just as NetEase prepares to reveal Season 10. The Asgardian remains available in Competitive and the game’s social hubs, but players can no longer select him in Quick Play, Arcade, Practice vs. AI, or 18 vs. 18.

NetEase has yet to explain what exactly has happened to the God of Mischief, but the timing leaves little to the imagination. Season 9 has spent much of its story setting up a mysterious god killer, and with Gorr the God Butcher himself all but confirmed as Season 10’s headliner, Loki’s disappearance is already looking like part of the next chapter in this lore.

Why Has Loki Gone Missing in Marvel Rivals?

Season 9, The Mystery of Thebes, opened with Apocalypse being murdered just as he was attempting to ascend to godhood. The killer was initially left unidentified, but the investigation gradually revealed that Apocalypse’s death was connected to a much larger conflict involving the gods and the Faith-Harvesting Engine.

The story eventually brought Khonshu into the mystery, with the final developments introducing a figure carrying an ebony sword and targeting the gods. It should be noted that Gorr has not been named directly by NetEase in this storyline, but the setup matches his Marvel identity as the God Butcher 1:1.

That connection could also help provide some context to Loki‘s mysterious disappearance. The Strategist hero was already involved in Season 9’s murders, having killed Psylocke while trying to change his own destiny. Now the God of Mischief has suddenly been marked as “missing” across most regular modes while Gorr is expected to enter the story.

NetEase Shouldn’t Keep Us Waiting Much Longer

The wait for an explanation should be short. As of writing, NetEase is expected to begin its Season 10 reveal campaign in a few hours from now, with the Season Trailer and Dev Vision vlog expected to provide the first official look at the new season ahead of its September 11 launch.

That should finally give us some answers about Gorr and explain where the story is going after Season 9’s events. It should also settle whether Loki’s disappearance is part of Gorr’s arrival, particularly if the other Asgardian characters in the game (Thor, Angela, Hela!) also receive similar treatment before the new season begins.

For now, though, Loki remains in the game, just not where players normally expect to find him. With Season 10 only days away, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out whether the God of Mischief has become the God Butcher’s latest victim.
