F1’s most beloved four-legged star, Roscoe, the English Bulldog and loyal companion of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, passed away on September 28. Since joining Hamilton’s life in 2013, Roscoe was not just a pet; he became a fixture in the paddock, appearing alongside the driver during his most dominant years with Mercedes. Fans quickly fell in love with his playful personality, earning him over 1.4 million followers on Instagram under @roscoelovescoco.
Roscoe was more than a social media star. Just days before his passing, Hamilton revealed that Roscoe had been admitted to the vet and was struggling to breathe, causing him to skip the Friday Pirelli tire test at Mugello. From a cameo in the new Brad Pitt-starrer F1: The Movie to becoming a fan favorite across circuits, Roscoe left a lasting mark on the sport. But what exactly happened to F1’s most loved pupper?
What Happened to Lewis Hamilton’s Pet Roscoe?

There is no doubt that Roscoe has found its way into the hearts of all F1 fans, so when Lewis Hamilton shared the news that Roscoe had been admitted due to pneumonia, it had everyone wishing him a speedy recovery and keeping the two in their prayers.
It was reported that the dog had caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe. Roscoe was special to Hamilton, and he was not about to leave the dog’s side until it recovered. He even went ahead and pulled out of Friday’s Pirelli tire test at Mugello and Ferrari’s Fashion Show in Milan. While he did stay active on the event via a live stream, he remained close to the dog, waiting for any chance of positive news.
Roscoe went into a coma and was fighting for his life. It was after four days, on Sunday at 9:20 PM, that Roscoe passed away in Lewis Hamilton’s arms. Lewis shared a heartfelt post dedicated to the pupper on Instagram, saying:

After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe.
Roscoe was special to Hamilton, as it was after adopting him that Hamilton went on to win six World Drivers’ Championships with Mercedes and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest drivers in F1 history.
Roscoe Became a Movie Star While Winning Hearts in the F1 Paddock

While Roscoe gained immense popularity as Lewis Hamilton’s pet, the best part is that he was not limited to the F1 paddock. Roscoe was also a movie star. In the recent Joseph Kosinski-directed F1 movie starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, Roscoe played a small role. Nothing major, but if you follow F1 even a little, there is a good chance you might have spotted him.
Roscoe was often seen walking around the paddock wearing a red leash that said LH44 on the side. This was especially before the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit, where he would roam the grid. The movie was a massive hit, grossing over $600 million at the box office, and seeing Roscoe be a part of it was simply adorable. His name was even mentioned in the post-credits.
