Will Ghost of Yotei Support Multiplayer at Launch: Announced Co-Op Mode Explained

A Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei was teased during the “Song of Vengeance” trailer, but it won’t be available to you at launch. For those who don’t know, the Legends is a multiplayer mode where players can come together for a co-op adventure. This mode existed in Ghost of Tsushima, too; however, it came out after several months following its release.

Ghost of Yotei Will Have a Legends Mode Like Tsushima

The Legends mode in Ghost of Yotei should work more or less like that in Ghost of Tsushima. While we do not have the official information regarding this mode revealed yet, it’s safe to assume that Sucker Punch, the developers, won’t bring any changes to the core mechanics. Since the previous Legends mode was fun to play, all they can do is improve certain mechanics here and there to provide you with a smoother gameplay experience.

In the upcoming game, the Legends mode is said to arrive as a free DLC, where those who own it will be able to install it as extra content on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Once installed, you will be able to form a team of four players and complete missions that are separate from the main story missions. Hence, there will be a lot of new content for you to enjoy after the launch.

Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends mode was extremely fun, as it allowed players to choose their class during co-op missions. Based on their respective classes, their abilities, and playthrough varied. You can expect a similar feature in Ghost of Yotei when the multiplayer Legends mode is released.

For those who were expecting a competitive multiplayer mode against other players, don’t worry, Sucker Punch might have thought through it, as well. Since a 2v2 mode was added later in Tsushima, we can safely track that pattern and assume that the developers will eventually roll this feature in Yotei, too.

When Will the Legends Mode Release in Ghost of Yotei?

As of now, there’s no official confirmation on when the Legends mode will arrive in Ghost of Yotei. However, you can expect it to release sometime in 2026 as a free addition to the base game.

The Legends mode is not just any addition to the game. It has the potential to reshape how players experience the upcoming game by expanding replayability beyond its campaign. While the 2026 release window is still far from the game’s original release on October 2, 2025, it will give players a lot of time to hone their Samurai skills through the main gameplay.
