Langley RCMP say shortly before 10 p.m., officers received reports of a man in distress near Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent.

Emergency crews responded to the area and found a 75-year-old Langley resident suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Const. Peter Mann, a spokesperson for the Langley RCMP, says investigators have reviewed video evidence and believe the man was assaulted.

“Officers believe there were additional people in the area who may have witnessed the incident, and we are asking those individuals to come forward and speak with investigators,” said Mann in a statement Thursday.

Langley RCMP is asking anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dash camera or CCTV footage from the surrounding area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., to contact police.
