KPop Demon Hunters Star Reveals Sequel Update at Heidi Klum’s Halloween Party

Released in June 2025, the hit movie KPop Demon Hunters became one of Netflix’s biggest surprises this year. Starring Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Daniel Dae Kim, and Ken Jeong, among others, the film quickly turned into the most-watched original title on the streamer, earning more than 325 million views in just 91 days (via The Wrap).

Fans around the world loved its mix of music, action, and fantasy, and many are now waiting to know if a sequel is coming. So recently, attending Heidi Klum’s famous Halloween party, singer Rei Ami, who gave the singing voice for Zoey in the movie, addressed people’s curiosity about the KPop Demon Hunters sequel. Speaking to E! News, she said she is “waiting for the call” just like the fans.

I’m waiting for the call, just like you! You’re gonna find out when I do, so we’ll chat then. 

But even though there is no official news, Rei Ami still praised the film and called it a “cultural phenomenon”. So, for now, fans will need to stay patient and hope Netflix brings the demon-slaying idols back soon.

Rei Ami’s Sequel Update Arrives at Heidi Klum’s 24th Annual Halloween Party

Well, the sequel talks from singer Rei Ami came when she attended Heidi Klum’s big Halloween party in New York City. Therein, Ami showed up in full costume, dressed up as one of the characters from the film, and instantly grabbed attention. Her outfit was inspired by KPop Demon Hunters, showing her love for the movie.

Even her co-star Ejae, who sang for Rumi in the film, also dressed as a character from the movie, making the night even more special for fans. Overall, speaking with E! News, Rei Ami explained how KPop Demon Hunters and its music brought joy and hope to people and claimed to be “honored and in awe” after the film’s success. 

I’m so honored and in awe, and just truly humbled by the power of music and good art and how it can really, truly—it sounds so cliché—change the world. That’s exactly what this film and this soundtrack did, and it brought so much hope and light into such a dim, grim world, and I feel really privileged to be a part of it. 

Meanwhile, the famous 24th Annual Halloween Party on October 31, 2025, presented by Butterfinger and Huluween, took place at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City. And my oh my, Heidi Klum upped the stakes with her shocking and petrifying look as Medusa, the powerful monster from Greek mythology. 

Given her obsession with Greek mythology, Heidi Klum donned green scales and squirming snakes to transform herself into Medusa. And as per Stuff, the whole transformation took her about 10 hours, while her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, dressed as a man turned into stone. Perfect combination! 

Director Maggie Kang Revealed a Hilarious Note She Received From Sony

Meanwhile, amid talks about a possible sequel, the creators of KPop Demon Hunters attended a sold-out panel at the Animation Is Film Festival in Los Angeles and offered fun behind-the-scenes stories with fans. According to Variety, director Maggie Kang shared the most hilarious insight about a note she received from Sony.

As the team discussed the scene where the girl group meets the very handsome boy band called the Saja Boys, Kang remembered the process. Claiming how she wanted to make the movie fun, bold, and full of strong but silly female characters, the director mentioned receiving a funny note from Sony Animation, asking her to “objectify” the guys. 

I’ve been waiting to talk about this scene for so long. When this movie was first pitched, Kristine Belson, the president of Sony Animation, said, ‘Let’s objectify the crap out of these guys.’ Finally! So that was kind of our goal: to make really thirsty girls.

According to Maggie Kang, Sony wanted to show the Saja Boys as extremely attractive and charming. And as Kang loved that direction, she decided to make the film really playful and filled with fun girl-crush energy. Even the costumes had funny discussions behind them. Production designer Helen Mingjue Chen shared that at one point, the Saja Boys almost wore mesh crop tops.
