James Gunn’s Superman is bringing a lot of elements together. The film is set to introduce several new characters to the DCU, like Guy Gardner and Eve Teschmacher, as well as aspects of the character that took years to be brought into live action like Superdog and Supergirl being in the first film. With this, it is not surprising that the film has become one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
However, it would seem that introductions and reunions aren’t only happening on-screen. Two cast members from the project allegedly had their lives tangled long before they were brought into this film. In fact, they were apparently engaged.
Two Superman cast members were engaged long before they joined the film
Long before James Gunn’s Superman was even a concept, Mikaela Hoover and Nathan Fillion were involved with each other. Fillion is best known for projects like Firefly and Castle, while Hoover is known for projects like Sorority Forever.
According to HelloMagazine, the pair was involved with each other around 2013. However, their romance rose just as fast as it fell. Allegedly, they were very passionately in love with each other, with Fillion presenting a ring within seven months of their relationship.
However, their break-up wasn’t far after they got engaged, with the pair splitting ways in 2014 before they could go any further.
James Gunn’s Superman has also become a reunion for Mikaela Hoover and Nathan Fillion
Considering the history that Mikaela Hoover and Nathan Fillion have, it is bizarre to know that they will be working together. The former is set to play the role of Cat Grant in the upcoming Superman film, who is best known for being a gossip and show business columnist for Daily Planet. She is also a coworker of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
Fillion, on the other hand, is to play the role of Guy Gardner, who has been seen being close to Kent in an office building in the recently released trailer of the film. Considering this, the two could have their paths crossed in the movie. However, this should not be a very big deal for them since they have worked together before.
In fact, the pair has been involved in several of James Gunn’s other projects, including The Suicide Squad and The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Considering this, it is safe to assume that their atmosphere on the set was not hostile.
Superman is set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
