Rapper and producer Diddy’s criminal case is still one of the hottest topics out there, especially with all the new updates coming out every day. It’s tough to get comments from the artists who were part of his parties and wild nights. But some other celebs whose names are popping up in connection to the case are already shutting down what seem to be just rumors.
It’s tough to wrap heads around this situation since it seems to involve nearly the entire Hollywood scene. For some reason, all sorts of rumors about victims are swirling around online, and Reginald VelJohnson has found himself caught up in that mess. The actor had to set the record straight.
Family Matters Star Reginald VelJohnson Denies Involvement With Diddy
Family Matters is one of those classic sitcoms from the 90s that still resonates with audiences today, especially when it’s rerun for nostalgic fans. Because of this enduring popularity, some of the cast members continue to be remembered fondly over the years, and Reginald VelJohnson is definitely one of them.
Portraying the iconic Carl Winslow, the father of the main family, VelJohnson found his name tied to the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs scandal. Rumors suggested that he frequented the singer’s wild parties, where a lot was allegedly happening. It even got more serious, with claims suggesting that the actor had also engaged in s-xual relations with the rapper.

The controversy intensified even further when Charlamagne Tha God weighed in on the situation during his podcast, which sparked reactions on X.
Because of that, VelJohnson quickly became the talk of the town online. While rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars, he was approached by TMZ on the streets of Los Angeles, where he shared his thoughts on the matter:
The actor also urged those fueling the rumor to “get a life.”
Could Family Matters Make A Comeback?
Family Matters aired for a total of nine seasons from 1989 to 1998, earning a special place in the hearts of comedy fans. The sitcom was part of the classic lineup of shows from that era, leading to speculation about the possibility of a revival. For instance, Full House got its spin-off in 2016 with Fuller House on Netflix, raising hopes that Family Matters could follow suit.
However, according to Jaleel White, VelJohnson’s co-star and the protagonist — Steve Urkel — in the series, a revival is unlikely. Last month, at 90s Con 2024, he shared the reasons behind this: (via People)
Michelle Thomas, who played Myra, and Rosetta LeNoire, who portrayed the mother Estelle, passed away in 1998 and 2002, respectively. Additionally, White pointed out that there was an entire storyline that wouldn’t hold up well today:
Without Thomas’s presence, the idea of a sitcom comeback is not something he’s interested in pursuing. Otherwise, he might have considered creating a love triangle for the characters involved, which could have made for an interesting plot in a sequel.
Besides, he emphasized that the absence of modern technology is a crucial aspect he wants to preserve. Reviving Family Matters today without elements like smartphones and social media, for example, just wouldn’t make sense.
Family Matters is available for streaming on Max.
