But, nothing is as it seems with the industry that unapologetically uses celebrity scandals and controversies to stay relevant.

Justin Bieber’s relevance in the modern pop culture world relies on his actions as well. After shining on the news as a teenage sensation, the singer then made headlines due to his on-and-off romantic relationship with Selena Gomez, for announcing his early retirement by the age of 30, and for his marriage to model Hailey Bieber née Baldwin, with who he now shares a newborn son.

Despite the Canadian singer’s affinity toward making headlines, Justin Bieber has delivered more good than bad into this world before walking away from the music industry for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, external forces such as fan interest and the paparazzi refuse to let go of him completely, even despite his past claims about his fragile mental health and physical illness.

On the other hand, third parties such as Selena Gomez, her devoted fan club, and the anti-Bieber public have dragged his name into the spotlight time and again, Others like Sean “Diddy” Combs have inadvertently pulled Bieber into the tornado of bad news cycle and a controversy that could put even career criminals to shame.

Now, with 2024 rolling down to a somber close, the world reels from back-to-back shocks from the music industry. With Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawsuit and the Grand Jury indictment, there is no escaping the spotlight. However, Bieber inadvertently becomes collateral in the trial of Diddy as his past association and close dealings with the rapper/Bad Boy CEO as a teenager come to light.

Justin Bieber’s Mother Gets Drawn into the Scandal

As a teenage mother herself, Pattie Mallette had the pleasure of raising a future global mega icon all by herself at the age of 18. As she too matured into an adult alongside her son, Mallette realized one fact very early on in her life: that she just didn’t know what to expect when it came to Justin Bieber.

As a musically gifted kid, he showed promise in the field. Mallette began to support her son, despite already living on an allowance, by posting YouTube videos of Bieber singing – which, in hindsight, was the first step in his path to global stardom.

Revealing the details about this early phase in their lives and the legal jargon that she had to follow when Bieber’s career was taking off, Mallette wrote in her book Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom:

Following P. Diddy’s sexual abuse allegations and arrest on federal charges, Pattie Mallette’s comments on accountability and unhealthy, long-term relationships have resurfaced as Justin Bieber now suffers under the court of public opinion for his friendship with Diddy in the naïve stages of his life.

Despite evidence to the contrary, Mallette and Bieber are just as innocent in the whole controversy and can only be held accountable for putting their trust in the wrong person.

Sean “Diddy” Combs will appear before the federal court on May 5, 2025, to stand trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
