Not everything that shines is truly valuable—and in the case of Blake Lively, it might just be true. Hollywood’s darling, known for her charming roles in Gossip Girl and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, is finding herself at the center of a storm.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the cinema world lately, you know that It Ends With Us is hitting theaters hard. While the movie is raking in cash at the box office, it’s not just the on-screen drama that’s grabbing headlines—there’s a whole lot of off-screen turbulence stirring the pot as well.

Adding fuel to the fire, a supposed rift between Lively and her co-star only intensifies the whispers. Critics like Candace Owens have certainly added to the drama. Known for her blunt and unapologetic takes, she didn’t hold back when she called Lively “unbearable” amid all this.

But this isn’t just about a few unkind words or an offhand remark. No, this is a whole kettle of fish involving not just Lively’s personal image but also the film she stars in, It Ends with Us.

Candace Owens calls Blake Lively ‘Unbearable’, slams modern feminism in bold critique

If you thought the only thing on fire right now was Blake Lively’s career in It Ends With Us due to behind-the-scenes tensions with her co-star, think again.

Candace Owens has now doubled down on her criticism of modern feminism by using the Gossip Girl star as her prime example. According to her, Lively’s actions and attitudes represent the very essence of what’s gone wrong with feminism today: whiny, spoiled, and hyper-sensitive.

On her YouTube show, Owens didn’t mince words, saying:

Blake Lively has ended modern feminism by being a modern feminist.

Her thesis?

Modern feminism is [pardon] an army of spoiled brats who’ve never dealt with anything in their lives.

Owens took to the screen, pulling out an old interview where Lively got into a back-and-forth about period-piece costumes. Well, according to Owens Lively’s response:

That is your brain on feminism. Any time you do something that has been done in the past, I want to discuss the costume design!

On August 10, a chat with Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa caught fire after it aired. Flaa, interviewing Lively and actor Parker Posey for their film Café Society, opened with a well-intentioned congratulatory remark, calling attention to Lively’s pregnancy.

Lively, however, immediately fired back with a rehearsed “Congrats on your little bump,” delivering the same line in return. What followed was a subtle but pointed exchange about fashion, one of Hollywood’s perennial topics of conversation, where Lively deflected questions about her own wardrobe by questioning why no one asked men the same thing.

This moment sparked a fierce debate about how society views women, especially in the context of their roles in the entertainment industry. Was Lively merely responding to the shallow nature of questions aimed at her, or was she taking offense where none was meant?

Let’s be clear: this seems to be a war of ideologies. Candace Owens has used Blake Lively’s current controversy as a springboard for a much broader conversation. In her eyes, the current form of feminism—obsessed with minor inconveniences and hyperbolic interpretations of everyday life—is not the feminism of the past. She sees it as spoiled, bratty, and out of touch with the struggles that many women still face today.

The idea here is that Lively tends to see issues where others might not, which Owens argued is a characteristic of the “whiny” feminism she criticizes.

She problematizes everything in her life, and so to see this backlash against Blake Lively— I don’t have an issue with her personally. I think it’s great that she and Ryan Reynolds put their family first in a lot of ways, and she seems like she’s a great mother and a great wife.

Owens believes that the backlash Lively is receiving will cause many to question whether feminism has strayed too far from its original purpose.

But I’m grateful that she’s going through this because it’s making a lot of people question what, in fact, modern feminism has become. And this is it: it’s whiny, it’s bratty, and it needs to end. So to that, I say thank you to Blake Lively.

In the whirlwind of all this public commentary, Owens also offered a curious twist—thanking Blake Lively. Why? Because the former feels that Lively’s involvement in this controversy is forcing people to take a step back and reflect on what modern feminism has become.
