While both characters hold immeasurable powers, they’re unevenly matched. Especially with the Demon King’s resistance to the perception of time. It is highly unlikely that Julius’ magic would faze him. His immortality as a demon defies the concept of time. This, however, doesn’t negate Julius’ caliber as an Arcane mage.

Julius Novachrono’s formidability in Black Clover

Apart from being an Arcane Mage, Julius holds immeasurable power as a knowledgeable wizard. Especially with his connections to Astaroth, his powers prove to be a feat for him. On the contrary, his possession by the time-wielding devil is fatal. As a ruler of the underworld and wielder of time, Astaroth is on par with Lucifero and Beelzebub. And there’s more to it.

Julius’ real identity as Lucius’ twin brother reflects on the Dark Triad’s plans to usurp the Clover Kingdom. As the host of the devil Astaroth, Julius is more than a pawn in the entire story. While one may rule him to be a hollow vessel without Astaroth’s power.

This isn’t entirely true considering his mastery in mana control as well as physical combat. While he is unmatched against the Demon King, Julius’ power is truly fatal. Especially with his ability to steal his opponent’s time and amass it. This further proves his formidability as the Wizard King in the series.

All in all, Demon King and Julius hold immeasurable strength. One is the host of a devil. The other is a demon king himself. Meliodas honed his resistance through his time in the purgatory. As a demon who has lived for 3000 years, he is unrivaled in most aspects. Julius, however, possesses knowledge and power which is a deadly combination nonetheless.
