Bones are one of the most important and useful resources to have in Conan Exiles. However, the Exiled Lands or the Isle of Siptah won’t make it easy for you, primarily because their source of obtainment is through killing enemies and animals. You may also get lucky and collect Bones from specific Chests. So, here’s a complete guide to getting Bones in Conan Exiles.

Bones are primarily obtained from human corpses and animal carcasses in Conan Exiles. The best way to obtain this resource is to explore The Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah, particularly in areas with Camps, Refuges, and Tombs. If you’re targeting Camps specifically, we recommend looking for Darfari Cannibal camps since you’ll find Chests filled with a plethora of Bones in these locations.
You can harvest Bones from both dried animal carcasses and regular animal carcasses using a Hatchet or a Pick. These are the only tools that offer Bones when harvesting corpses and carcasses. When you encounter a human, undead, or animal, kill them, then use the tools mentioned above to harvest their Bones. It’s not a guaranteed chance, so we suggest using the Hatchet to have a small chance to yield heads (more on this below).
Dried animal carcasses can spawn anywhere on the map, and they are harder to find, while living animals and NPCs are easier to locate and kill. Apart from this, you can also use animal heads at the Fluid Press to craft Bones, Blood, and Pelts. With that said, here are the animals and human/undead NPCs you should look out for when farming Bones with your Hatchet or Pick in Conan Exiles:

For early-game Bone-farming in Conan Exiles, Crocodiles and Shalebacks are the way to go since they offer Bones and Putrid Meat, which is useful for the Compost Heap. Whenever you encounter these animals or enemy NPCs, kill them before you start harvesting them with your Hatchet. Each swing will cost you Durability.
Sometimes, you can also find Bones or items made of Bones inside an enemy’s inventory, so once you finish them off, always check before you leave the area. The most common item you’ll find is the Bone Arrows used in combat and hunting. Speaking of crafting materials, let’s take a look at what Bones are used for in Conan Exiles.
What Are Bones Used for in Conan Exiles?
There’s no end to the items you can craft with Bones! | Credits: HeRo Survival Guides via YouTubeBones are a staple resource in Conan Exiles, which means they have multiple uses. You can use Bones with other early game resources to hand-craft weapons like Bone Arrows, Bone Claws, Bone Shields, and more. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock different Workbenches that open up new avenues to utilize your Bones.
When you unlock the Armorer’s Bench, you can combine Bones with other valuable resources to craft new armor sets or Bracers, Chestpieces, Greaves, Helmets, and more. The more you improve the Armorer’s Bench, the better armors and armor pieces you can craft.
On the other hand, the Artisan Table allows you to craft new decorations with Bones to furnish your base. They are also used to make Consumables such as Bone Broth and Bone Meal via the Stove Stations. However, that’s not enough, as you can also utilize Bones for ceremonial purposes at the Pit, Rift, and Abyss of Yog or for casting sorceries in Conan Exiles.
