Pure Quartz is one of the most important late-game materials in Palworld 1.0. It’s primarily used to craft Circuit Boards, which are essential for advanced technologies, electrical structures, and high-tier production equipment. While you won’t need it during the early stages of the game, Pure Quartz quickly becomes a valuable resource as you unlock more endgame recipes.
Knowing where to farm it and how to automate its production will save you countless trips into the frozen northern regions.

Natural Pure Quartz deposits are found exclusively in the Astral Mountains in Palworld, the snow-covered region in the northern part of the map. Although the 1.0 update introduced new areas like Sunreach and the World Tree, no confirmed Pure Quartz nodes have been discovered there so far. Some of the best Pure Quartz farming locations in that region include:
- Unthawable Lake: Around 9 Pure Quartz nodes and 1 Ore node, making it one of the best places to establish a mining base.
- PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower Entrance: Another excellent location with 9 Pure Quartz nodes and a naturally defensible layout.
- Land of Absolute Zero: A popular late-game farming spot featuring 8 Pure Quartz nodes and 2 Ore nodes.
- Pristine Snow Field: A quieter location with 6 Pure Quartz nodes and fewer enemy encounters.
To identify the resource, look for dark rock formations with bright, crystalline spikes. This makes them relatively easy to distinguish from other resource nodes. While any pickaxe can mine them, using a Metal Pickaxe or a higher-tier tool speeds up the process considerably.
If you’re planning to farm Pure Quartz regularly, consider building a Palbox near one of these locations to create a dedicated mining base. Pals with Mining Level 3 or higher are ideal for harvesting the resource efficiently. Pair them with strong Transporting Pals like Wumpo, Helzephyr, or Ragnahawk to move mined resources into nearby storage automatically. (More pals are added with the 1.0 update)
Mining isn’t the only way to obtain Pure Quartz in version 1.0. Certain Pals, which include Astegon, Jetragon, Frostallion Noct, Neptilius, and Pierdon Cryst, also have a chance to drop the material.
NOTE: Once you reach Level 50, you can unlock the Pure Quartz Mine using 5 Ancient Technology Points. After constructing it at your base, your Mining Pals can produce Pure Quartz automatically
How to Maximize Your Pure Quartz Farming
Mine once. Automate forever. | Credits: PocketpairBefore venturing into the Astral Mountains, make sure your gear provides sufficient cold resistance, especially during nighttime when temperatures become even harsher. Bringing high-tier pickaxes and plenty of food will help you maximize each farming run.
For long-term efficiency, establish a dedicated mining base beside one of the larger Pure Quartz deposits. Position storage chests close to the mining nodes to reduce transportation time, and place Feed Boxes, Berry Plantations, beds, and Hot Springs within easy reach so your Pals can continue working with minimal downtime.
A flying mount is highly recommended, as it allows you to reach remote farming locations much more quickly while avoiding dangerous terrain and many of the high-level enemies that roam the northern mountains.
Although Pal drops can provide additional Pure Quartz, mining natural deposits remains the fastest method of building your initial stockpile. Once you’ve unlocked the Pure Quartz Mine, however, automation becomes the most efficient long-term strategy, ensuring you always have enough Pure Quartz to craft Circuit Boards and other advanced technologies without making constant trips to the snowy biome.
