Pragmata Boss Fight Guide

When you’re on your way to the mainframe to reboot IDUS in Pragmata, Hugh and Diana will have a short encounter with Mr. Worm, a.k.a the LunaDigger, in the Lunum Mines, preparing you for the boss fight that lies ahead. Just before you can access the door to the IDUS’ mainframe, the LunaDigger will make a surprise appearance, starting the boss fight.

Similar to the IDUS (SectorGuard) boss fight, LunaDigger has two phases, and your strategy will remain the same throughout both phases, which is hacking and targeting its weak points and using Hugh’s thrusters to avoid incoming damage. So, here’s how you can beat LunaDigger easily in Pragmata.

Phase 1: Aim for the Mouth & Hack When it Burrows

The first thing you’ll find out about the LunaDigger is its weakness: the mouth. When the LunaDigger is burrowing or drilling towards you or the ground, you’ll get a clean shot at the mouth. When it’s burrowing, use Diana’s hacking skills, particularly nodes like Drain or Heat, to slow it down and make it vulnerable to increased damage from Hugh.

The LunaDigger will spend the majority of the fight underground, meaning you’ll get multiple short windows to take a shot at its mouth when it erupts from the ground. Its mouth stays open in the air for a few seconds, so start using Diana’s hacking abilities to weaken it for further damage. This is basically the entire gimmick for this fight in Pragmata.

If the LunaDigger manages to catch you in the hacking process, you’ll have a few seconds to escape its grasp by performing a quick hack with Diana. Use Hugh’s thrusters to move around when the LunaDigger is targeting you, and hack its mouth in the process. The Homing Missile or the Charge Piercer are particularly effective for this fight.

Move around to dodge its burrowing, and start hacking as soon as it erupts from the ground and starts drilling again. Shoot at its mouth whenever possible, and eventually you’ll fill the purple gauge below the LunaDigger’s health bar, which will allow you to deal a devastating Critical Shot using R2/RT. Remember, the purple gauge depletes quickly, so start approaching the boss as soon as the gauge is full.

Critical Shots in Pragmata deal exceptional damage, and it’s only possible if you consistently use Diana to hack the bosses to eventually stagger them. When you’ve successfully depleted the boss’s health to 50%, this will begin the second phase, which is a bit more dangerous.

Phase 2: Avoid the Missiles and Follow the Same Strategy

Your strategy remains the same during Phase 2: hack the LunaDigger when it burrows or erupts from the underground, and use Hugh’s weapons to shoot at its mouth. If it’s moving too quickly, shoot at its body. The boss will bring out all its stops during this phase, which include missiles and mini-drones. There’s no cutscene to indicate the second phase’s initiation, but you’ll know when it begins.

Red circles will indicate the missile’s impact on the ground, so use Hugh’s thrusters to escape its damage radius. For the mini-drones, you can either take them down or, better yet, use Diana’s hacking skills to turn them against the LunaDigger and deal massive damage. Even if you deal damage to the body, it’ll slowly count towards depleting its remaining health.

But the mouth remains the priority, and during the second phase, you need to go all out with your weapons as well. Unload everything you’ve got onto its mouth until you can perform more Critical Shots. When you completely deplete its health, you need to perform one final Critical Shot to put down Mr. Worm once and for all.

It’s a simple boss fight if you can master your dodging and hacking skills. Once the fight ends, you’ll receive the Shelter License Key 4, which unlocks new functions at the Shelter in Pragmata. Now, Hugh and Diana can finally access the mainframe to reboot IDUS and continue the main story.
