El Tiburón’s boss fight in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced works similarly to the original game, and mindlessly hacking and slashing won’t do you or Edward any good. When you fight him during the Tainted Blood main mission, the first thing you’ll notice is that sword attacks don’t deal any damage since his armor is immune to your melee attacks, and Edward comments on that.

As we mentioned at the beginning, your sword attacks will not harm El Tiburón at first in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. You need to rely on manual shooting and headshots to lower his yellow defense meter above his health bar. So, first, climb any of the structures nearby and only land headshots on him from above by manually shooting your Pistols.

Once the yellow defense bar is depleted, he’ll be open for a Takedown that shatters his helmet and armor and lowers a significant chunk of his health bar. You can now attack him with swords to chip away at his defense and health bars, but we recommend using every tool at your disposal, including Quick Shots with your Pistols and Heavy Attacks with your dual swords.

Keep dodging whenever you see the red glints of his massive axe. It’s also worth noting that numerous enemies will spawn during this boss fight, so act accordingly. Whenever they arrive, focus on eliminating them first by Perfect Parries and taking them out in one shot, and then shift your attention to El Tiburón.

You can also use them as Human Shields to block incoming bullets, then loot them after they die to replenish your ammo and healing items. Again, do not mindlessly hack and slash with your swords, and use everything you’ve got to take down these enemies and, of course, El Tiburón in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

If you’re looking for a simpler solution to this boss fight, use a Smoke Bomb near El Tiburón, then manually fire your Pistols or use Quick Shots to immediately shatter his armor. Then you can carry on with the fight and lower his health bar by using your sword attacks and tools until he’s on the ground.

Don’t make the following rookie mistakes while fighting El Tiburón in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag:

• Don’t rely solely on your dual swords to deal the brunt of the damage. While Quick Shots will work the best on El Tiburón, take out his minions by using Leg Sweeps, Kicks, Rope Darts, and Perfect Parries.
• When more enemies appear, things can get dicey. Instead of actually fighting them, we suggest Perfect Parrying an enemy and then chaining Takedowns to eliminate the entire group. If you have the ammo, use Quick Shots to kill four enemies in a row within 5 seconds and unlock the Gun-kata Trophy/Achievement.
• Don’t forget to loot the dead enemies to get additional healing items and ammunition, and stay longer in the fight. Throw Smoke Bombs if you need to recover them without taking damage.
• If you’re relying on your swords to do the heavy lifting, don’t forget to include Heavy Strikes in your basic combo chain to deal greater damage and kill enemies around El Tiburón quickly.

The remake’s combat system is designed to encourage quick chain Takedowns instead of just hacking and slashing your way out of intense encounters. Plus, you’re playing as Edward Kenway, so it’s imperative that you fight accordingly and make the most of the tools at your disposal. Once he’s dead, you can continue the lengthy main story.
