Jay-Z, along with the jailed rapper Diddy, was recently accused by an unidentified woman of r*pe when she was just 13 years of age. Since the civil lawsuit, things have not been looking good for the billionaire rapper and entrepreneur, and public opinion seems to have turned against him given his past with Diddy.
In the midst of this, one of his ‘ex-friends’ has come forward to remark on the situation, and stated that the way he is dealing with everything is not good for his career.
Jay-Z’s friend-turned-rival speaks about his legal troubles alongside Sean P Diddy Combs
Jay-Z has had several friends and fall-outs over his record-breaking career, but one of his most infamous rivalries has been with the Roc-A-Fella co-founder, Dame Dash. Over the years, Dash has been quite vocal about their friendship and subsequent beef and has made several remarks about the same.
Recently, Dame Dash spoke about the recent lawsuit against Jay-Z and P Diddy where an unnamed woman accused the two of r*ping her at a party when she was just 13 (via NBC). In an interview with the Art of Dialogue, when asked about what he thinks about how the rapper has been dealing with everything and the statement he came out with, Dash stated the following,
I think, right now, his silence is the worst thing for him if he is innocent. He needs to let people ask him questions, and he needs to be able to say his side of the story as opposed to letting that lawyer talk.
Also adding that he doesn’t trust Jay-Z’s lawyer since he went to court with him, Dash remarked that it is shocking how it is for the first time in Jay-Z’s career that he has to defend himself. Maintaining that Jay-Z should come and speak up directly, Dash believes that transparency is vital for him if he is truly innocent.
Jay-Z sues high-profile lawyer accusing him of extortion and defamation
While Dame Dash believes Jay-Z has been handling the whole lawsuit wrong and considers his lawyer a liar, Jay-Z has been busy suing the attorney who is representing the alleged victim. Tony Buzbee is a high-profile lawyer responsible for representing more than 150 people who allege to have been s*xually abused or exploited by P Diddy (via Associated Press).
Jay-Z has filed a complaint against Buzbee in Los Angeles court, accusing him of defamation as well as of naked extortion. Viewed in the context of Buzbee’s prior statements threatening to file criminal complaints against, and publicly shame, a ‘long list’ of celebrities, the message in the extortion demands was clear: pay up, or face a criminal investigation and extraordinary reputational harm… reads the complaint as obtained by PEOPLE.
Furthermore, the complaint stated that Buzbee and his law firm gave the rapper a two-week notice to agree to the confidential mediation along with defaming him by making several false statements in the last couple of months. Meanwhile, reps for Buzbee are yet to comment.
