When it comes to the world of cinema, few roles carry as much weight as the iconic fictional spy, James Bond. Having been portrayed by some of the finest actors in the film industry, the franchise has been struggling to find the new Bond, after the end of Daniel Craig’s tenure with No Time to Die. However, till now no actor has been cast since and the position has been lying vacant since 2021.
While names like Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and even Cillian Murphy have been suggested by fans, many believe that the former Superman, Henry Cavill is and was always the perfect choice.
Who will be the next James Bond?
The search for the next James Bond is still on after Daniel Craig said goodbye to the role in 2021. Over these years several names have been taken and reported to be offered the role, but no official confirmation has ever been given.
Just in March of this year, The Sun reported that Marvel star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been offered the role. However, the fan favorite was reported to be out of the race according to The InSneider. Meanwhile, other names have been thrown across the board, like Cillian Murphy’s, who was suggested by the former Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan (via BBC).
Moreover, actors like Regé-Jean Page, Josh O’Connor, Tom Hardy, and even Paul Mescal have been rumored to have been considered. However, if you ask fans, there can be no other perfect casting than Henry Cavill. Cavill, who has already lost the role once due to being too young, is still considered by fans as the best actor today who can portray 007.
Fans believe there is no better actor than Henry Cavill for James Bond
Recently, The Hollywood Reporter predicted that the English actor Josh O’Connor will be the next James Bond. Even though it was just a prediction and not an official confirmation, fans were quick to berate the choice on social media.
Despite the many names and eligible actors present for the role, the majority of fans continue to hold the belief that no actor can do justice to the fictional spy than Henry Cavill. Cavill once famously told Men’s Health that he went as far as a screen test for Bond before losing the role for being too young. But since being the spy is a good 10-12-year contract, he seems too old for the role at 41.
But fans do not believe so and consider him as ‘Pierce Brosnan levels of perfect casting.’
For many, Henry Cavill is an actor who can perfectly embody the suave sophistication, physical presence, and charisma needed to fill the iconic tuxedo. After having played a similar character in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Cavill is indeed the best choice and Barbara Broccoli, who is holding the keys to the future of the franchise, cannot afford to miss the mark.
