Whether you watch Good Omens season 3 or not, and by canceling the series after just two seasons, you likely won’t, you have to admire that Prime Video did right by the series’s fans and its subscribers. How? By giving the show a proper conclusion. That is something Netflix, the streaming giant, often refuses to do.
Good Omens season 3 is a single 90-minute episode, essentially a movie, that wraps up the series nicely for those. A gift to those likely diehard fans, who supported the Michael Sheen and David Tennant vehicle through the first two seasons, which spanned twelve memorable episodes.
A noteworthy gesture for those looking to whittle down their streaming services. Though, yes, the show takes three to four years to produce a single season. Of course, it helps that the BBC picks up some of the cost. However, the series finale movie hits all the right notes, a divine send-off of charm and chaos that should satisfy ardent fans nicely.

The last time we saw the characters of Good Omens, the cliffhanger was emotionally devastating and bittersweet, to say the least. While finding inspiration in Gabriel (Jon Hamm), who abandoned Heaven for Beelzebub (Shelley Conn), Crowley (David Tennant) confesses his love to Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), choosing the pearly gates over him.
Their friendship now fractured, the newly appointed archangel Aziraphale is put in charge of the Second Coming, that Jesus Christ will return to Earth after his ascension to Heaven, causing confusion and dismay within the angel community. While Crowley wanders the streets of Soho, heartbroken, stumbling from pub to pub beneath sobering neon lights.
Giving Tennant and Sheen these meaty history to their character dynamic makes for an interesting “buddy” movie that involves them trying to save humanity as well as the divine. Essentially, both are preventing a “DOGE” cost-cutting plan, fewer angles with less work to go around. The story toys with free will, compassion, and the fragility of relationships.

While simple, and almost a trope, though tropes exist because they work, this final chapter is just as much about reconciliation, anyone going through relationship therapy would know this, as it is about saving everyone from Armageddon. Crowley is a wild child, and Aziraphale is fussy, but they work.
A heavenly-demonic Felix and Oscar, if there ever was one. This is why the series has worked, even as the second season unfolded into overly long plots that were needlessly dense and narratively overstuffed to the point of, let’s say, gluttony. The movie still has those moments, which you know going in, why change now?
Good Omens has never been one to pander, always unmistakably its own. The finale is still filled with heavenly hijinks, demonic shenanigans, and all-around hellish mischief. The chemistry between the two is what keeps the series from becoming mediocre, a problem that arose during season two. That season was meandering, stretching beyond its limits.
Is Prime Video’s Good Omens Season 3 Worth Watching?

Like that sophomore effort, the third chapter is largely original material, straying from Terry Pratchett’s source novel of the same name. However, this season now has a palpable sense of urgency, as everything and everyone hangs in the balance, including what audiences truly care about most: Crowley and Aziraphale, or “The Ineffable Couple,” as much of the fandom calls them.
Good Omens season 3’s finale movie is worth watching if you are an ardent fan of the series. However, the film is surprisingly accessible for anyone going in cold, thanks to a concise two-minute summary. The ending has gravitas that lingers, along with terrific CGI, irreverent comedic bits, and themes that make this send-off an immersive experience.
In other words, creator Neil Gaiman knows exactly how to raise hell while earning a heavenly payoff.
You can stream the series finale of Good Omens exclusively on Prime Video starting May 12th!
