Marvel’s Wolverine: 5 Iconic Villains Insomniac Needs to Bring Back

59 minutes ago 9

Insomniac’s much-anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine will be out on September 15, meaning there are just a few months to go before PlayStation gets one of its most brutal superhero exclusives ever. The best part? The list of villains that can go up against Logan is nearly endless in the comics, and we won’t really know which ones we are going to see in the game before it is finally out.

Till then, we can only create a wishlist, and mine looks something like the following. These 5 characters are some of the most iconic foes Wolverine has ever gone up against, and it would be an absolute delight to see them appear on the screen once again. The best part? A couple of them have already been confirmed, meaning what’s left is to hope Insomniac does them justice.

Of all the villains on this list, Omega Red is the one fans no longer have to keep wishing for, and instead, should hope that Insomniac Games can deliver this villain well in the game. Thanks to the limited amount of trailers and promotionals we have gotten so far, it’s hard to estimate how big a role Red will play in the game, but just his mere inclusion is possibly enough to overjoy some of the most passionate fans.

Omega Red is a Russian Mutant as well as a KGB agent who has a long-standing rivalry with Wolverine. This is definitely one of the most-look-forward-to encounters in the whole game.

4 Lady Deathstrike

Being one of the most iconic villains Logan has ever faced, Lady Deathstrike frankly writes herself into the story of Marvel’s Wolverine. Reports so far suggest that she is already in the game with actress Jolene Kim lending her voice to the role, but there has been no official confirmation yet.

It was Lady Deathstrike’s father who originally developed the adamantium-bonding process, the same one Weapon X later used on Wolverine. Further down the line, she had herself converted into a cybernetic assassin, with adamantium bones and superhuman strength to be in the same weight class as Logan.

3 Hulk

Wolverine didn’t debut in an X-Men book. He had his first full appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181, dispatched by the Canadian Government to stop Bruce Banner from rampaging around. Since then, the rivalry has refused to fade, and rightfully so, as Hulk and Logan’s relationship can only be described as an immovable object meeting an unstoppable force.

While Hulk doesn’t really need to be the main antagonist of Marvel’s Wolverine, he could definitely have more of an anti-hero role, and just a single standalone confrontation against the big green brute would be enough to send the players into full meltdown mode.

2 Silver Samurai

Kenuichio Harada, aka The Silver Samurai, has appeared in both the comics and in The Wolverine movie, rightfully so. He is one of the few villains who can genuinely match Logan in single combat, with his mutant ability letting him channel a tachyon field through his blade, making it capable of cutting through nearly any material, except Wolverine’s adamantium claws, if we were to go by the comics.

1 Deadpool

Wade Wilson is technically an anti-hero, but anybody who’s read the comics knows he’s made Logan’s life miserable on enough occasions to qualify as one of his adversaries. In fact, their dynamic is unlike anything else in Marvel, and saying that, the absence of Deadpool in Marvel’s Wolverine would be a missed opportunity would be a massive understatement.

Wade treats Logan like an older brother who despises him, whereas Logan treats Wade like a migraine that talks back and regenerates just as fast as he does. It’s chaotic, weird, funny, and most importantly, beautiful. There’s no way that the upcoming game would completely miss out on Deadpool, especially after Deadpool & Wolverine made both of them the face of the MCU for a short while.

A boss fight, a cameo, or even a post-credits sequence where Wade breaks the fourth wall and directly addresses the player would be the kind of thing that finally completes the game.
