In a press release Thursday, police said the youth’s family was led to believe the woman was a qualified respite worker and began meeting with the alleged victim – “a student who required supports” – in September 2025 outside of her role with the school board.

Police claim the alleged offences occurred during these meetings.

Cops have charged Karly Tripp, 30, with sexual assault, assault, voyeurism and uttering threats to cause death.

She is currently in jail on other charges.

Police said investigators are concerned about the possibility Tripp may have targeted other vulnerable persons through her employment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Const. Sarah Postuma at 905-540-6252 or the Sex Crimes Unit non-emergency line at 905-540-5553; or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppershamilton.com.

Charges add to her rap sheet

Tripp was previously charged by Halton Regional Police in a pair of investigations linked to the equine industry in Milton.

Back in May, Halton police charged her with criminal harassment and failure to comply with a probation order.

Halton police alleged Tripp used an alias to arrange a meeting with someone under fictitious circumstances.

She allegedly also contacted schools associated with that person while posing as them in an attempt to obtain confidential information.

At the time, police said she was also accused of stealing a horse in Milton in April and charged her with theft over $5,000 and fraudulently taking cattle and injuring or endangering other animals.
