After years of longing since the original film series and an unforgettable mishit in between, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally bringing back the Fantastic Four, and fans couldn’t be happier. The principal photography for the same has also reportedly started, and so have the leaks and spoilers. Like Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s most recent leaked look as The Thing.

Taken presumably from the sets of the movie, this exclusively leaked clip has been wreaking havoc on the internet and features the actor preparing the look for his role. And, surprisingly enough, as it seems from the way he is getting prepped for it, the MCU just may not be using the same movie magic for this F4 hero that it does for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk – at least, not to the same extent.

Marvel May Not Make Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing Fully CGI

With the constantly advancing technology and new gears being introduced in the CGI and visual effects domains, pretty much every big franchise seems to be looking forward to making their work easier by using these virtually creative measures. And while the MCU uses it pretty often for Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk too, it seems to be somewhat changing lanes for the upcoming F4 movie.

In a recently leaked set clip from The Fantastic Four: First Steps by @F4Update on X, something similar was sensed as Ben Grimm was seen getting ready for his superhero version. Surprisingly enough, The Bear actor, who will be embodying the character, wasn’t seen standing in front of a blue or green screen to bring his role’s rocky version to life.

Instead, Ebon Moss-Bachrach was seen dressed in a heavy bodysuit under his blue-white superhero costume, wearing his specially designed stony hands and the designers adjusting his character’s rocky mask on his face. Judging from the looks of it, it seems like this hero from the superhero squad of four just may notably be brought to life through both practical effects and CGI.

Of course, fans are as happy about this news as ever because of one too many understandable reasons. For one, taking a look at the costume decided for the beloved vigilante into consideration, he is inevitably looking a lot more comic-book-accurate than ever before. And, effortlessly enough, this news has a lot of fans excited about how things could turn out for the hero in the movie.

Fans React to Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Leaked Clip as The Thing

While the comic book accuracy is one factor, if Marvel is indeed taking this approach of mixing both practical and visual effects in the perfect proportion instead of heavily relying on CGI, then this could mean a lot of messy CGI drama could be avoided. This further means that the results would be a bit more realistic and pleasant than before.

All of this being said, fans are inevitably pleased with this leaked update, and are taking to X to share their excited reactions to the same:

The thing looks awesome! I like the face sculpt and suit looks fire on him🔥

3rd time is the charm? I really hope this is good.

— Light (@light47) August 29, 2024

Thank God it’s not a fully CGI mess.

— Anti-Taxxer (@colossusPhD) August 29, 2024

SPOT ON. And I'm sure there will be CGI touch-ups to make it even better.

Needless to say, all these reactions speak for themselves to explain just how profitable this one decision for having a perfectly balanced practical-visual effects mix would result for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the F4 movie. That being said, it would be truly interesting to see how things would unfold for these four fan-beloved superheroes in the much-anticipated presumed masterpiece.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps currently has a release date of July 25, 2025.
