If you’ve been investing your time in playing Capcom’s latest, Pragmata, and find yourself emotionally attached to the story’s central duo, you’re not alone. The worst part? You might be afraid if Diana dies in the game. The short answer is no, but the full picture is far more complicated than a single yes or no.
We’ll break down exactly what happens to Diana across all of Pragmata’s endings, and how your in-game choices exactly shape her fate.
Pragmata: What Is Diana’s Fate in The Latest Game?
Diana and Hugh have a different fate in every ending | Credit: CapcomPragmata launched on April 17, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and is on its way to becoming one of the year’s most talked-about games. Officially designated as Android D-I-0336-7, Diana is one of the game’s dual protagonists, joining Hugh Williams on a mission to escape a failing lunar research station and return to Earth.
Diana is the literal emotional soul of the game, and it’s only natural that players grow quickly attached to her, which is why the end of the game might be hard-hitting for many players. The good news is that she does not die in Pragmata. Across every version of the game’s ending, Diana survives; she makes it. However, for Hugh, it depends on how much of him survives alongside her, based on how you played the game.

Pragmata has different endings, and each of them is shaped by your Synchronization level and how differently you have gone through your playthrough. Here is what happens to Diana in each of the endings in Pragmata:
- Default Ending: This is what most players will encounter on a standard first playthrough. Here, Diana returns to Earth on her own while Hugh stays behind on the moon to stabilize the collapsing AI system. It’s one of the tender conclusions, where Hugh sacrifices his chance at going home so that she can have hers.
- The Abandonment Ending: This ending is triggered when the player’s Synchronization level is very low, and is the harshest outcome, triggered by neglecting interactions with Diana and skipping side content. In this version, Diana successfully restores Earth’s atmosphere, but it comes at the cost of Hugh’s digital consciousness. This ending reflects how a bond was never fully formed between the two protagonists, depending on the player’s choices.
- The True Ending: To unlock this one, the player needs to have 100% Synchronization Rate with Diana and has to collect all the memory fragments before equipping a special mod during the final boss fight. Being the most emotionally complex ending, in this version, Hugh is lost to the dead filament spreading through his body, but manages to get Diana into a shuttle and send her toward Earth before he goes.
While the True Ending delivers what is subjectively the worst outcome, there is also a post-credits scene that changes everything, as it implies that Hugh might have survived after all. Moreover, Diana reaches earth in every ending, meaning she always makes it.
