Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Officially Faces Its Biggest Challenge of All Time

In the anime world, some studios don’t just make great movies; they set records that seem almost impossible to beat! Ufotable has done exactly that with Demon Slayer, and now the studio has another huge challenge waiting in Infinity Castle Part 2.

The first movie was a massive box office success, and fans are already looking forward to the next chapter of the trilogy. However, with Kokushibo’s long-awaited battle and other anime titles also preparing their own big movie release, Ufotable will have to push itself harder than ever.

Ufotable Has Its Biggest Test Yet With Kokushibo’s Fight

Kokushibo is not just another powerful demon. As Upper Rank One and Muzan’s most powerful subordinate, he represents one of the most fearsome enemies the Hashira have ever faced. His unique technique, the Moon Breathing, generates a chaotic barrage of crescent-shaped blades that constantly shift in size, arc, and trajectory. It is challenging to depict all of these blades on screen without the visual clarity getting lost in the chaos.

The manga’s battle brings Gyomei Himejima, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Muichiro Tokito, and Genya Shinazugawa together against Kokushibo. Each fighter has a different role, and their desperate teamwork makes the battle feel much bigger than a simple clash between two powerful opponents. Ufotable will have to take care of the movements and breathing techniques and make them understandable for the viewers. If the studio gets the pacing and animation right, this could become one of the best fights in the entire series.

However, this duel isn’t just about fancy visual effects. Kokushibo used to be Michikatsu Tsugikuni, the elder twin brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni. His resentment towards Yoriichi, along with his fear of death, was one of the reasons why he became a demon. This tragic background provides an emotional layer to this duel that can’t be achieved with visual effects only.

As Ufotable gave fans fantastic duels in the Infinity Castle Part 1 fight with Akaza, now their task is even more difficult. Fans have seen what the studio can do, so Kokushibo’s fight needs to feel like a real step forward rather than another beautifully animated battle. Getting this confrontation right could set a new standard for the studio’s future projects.

Demon Slayer‘s Billion-Dollar Dream Rests on Infinity Castle Part 2

The first Infinity Castle movie earned more than $793.5 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), putting Demon Slayer within striking distance of the billion-dollar mark across its next theatrical release. That success is fantastic for the franchise, but it also creates enormous expectations for the sequel.

Part 2 also has several major battles to deliver. Alongside Kokushibo, Upper Rank Two Doma and Nakime will give the Demon Slayers plenty of trouble. Doma’s fight carries extra emotional weight after Shinobu Kocho’s fate in the first movie, while Nakime’s ability to control the Infinity Castle makes her a very different kind of opponent. These confrontations give Ufotable plenty of chances to show off its strengths, but each one needs enough time to make an impact.

There are also other anime movies that could make 2027 even more exciting. Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is expected to arrive in the same year. The movie is anticipated to feature Sung Jinwoo’s return to the Double Dungeon and his confrontation with the Architect, the figure behind the System that gave him his powers. If the adaptation delivers the intense action fans expect, it could become one of the biggest anime movie competitors for Infinity Castle Part 2 next year.

Still, Demon Slayer has already built a massive audience, and the first Infinity Castle movie has given Part 2 a huge advantage. The real question is whether Ufotable can surpass its previous work while giving Kokushibo’s battle the emotional depth it deserves.
