A few months ago, the isekai genre of the anime industry received a new anime adaptation in the form of DC’s Suicide Squad Isekai. The series is based on the Suicide Squad from DC Comics, and it was presented by Warner Bros. Japan. While fans had big hopes for the series, it didn’t live up to the expectations and was a failure in many aspects.
Suicide Squad Isekai follows the story of a team consisting of dangerous DC criminals Harley Quinn, Clayface, Deadshot, Peacemaker, and King Shark who are transported into another world that is filled with magic and monsters. The squad is tasked with helping a kingdom against the dangerous monsters that are prominent in the alternate world, but they are not the only danger present there.
While Suicide Squad Isekai could not achieve success as an anime, there was one aspect of the series that became quite popular and trending among fans. This aspect was the ending theme song of the series, which was quite catchy and maybe the only thing that fans appreciated about the series.
Suicide Squad Isekai failed as an anime
When the news about DC’s infamous Suicide Squad entering the anime world was revealed, fans were quite happy and excited to see how Task Force X would perform within the realms of the anime industry. The series added a new twist where the Squad was sent on a mission to another world along with A.R.G.U.S. agent Rick Flag.
Most of the elements of Suicide Squad Isekai coincided with the original Suicide Squad storyline. Be it the characters or the bombs installed in their necks, the anime series tried its very best to keep the series close to the original narrative as much as possible. But evidently, the twist of isekai became the reason for the series’ downfall.
There were a lot of inconsistencies with the series, ranging from the quality to the character development. Even the portrayal of the widely popular characters in a different environment didn’t sit well with the fans, and all this essentially led to it being deemed a failure in terms of numbers and reception from anime fans.
The only good thing about Suicide Squad Isekai
Suicide Squad Isekai might have been considered a failure in many different aspects, but the one thing that the series has been getting props for is the ending theme song, which is a decent tune.

— Jōgen-San3️⃣😈 (@Upper3rdDemonRa) December 24, 2024From the video animation to the song, everything about the ending theme of Suicide Squad Isekai was quite catchy, and thus many believed it to be the best ending theme of 2024.
The ending theme song of Suicide Squad Isekai is a unique video that features the track “Go-Getters” performed by popular Japanese VTuber rapper Mori Calliope.
The ending theme song portrays all the major characters from the series in the most “anime” way possible, grabbing the attention of the viewers. It is probably the only thing that fans loved about the series.
Although a second season of the anime series has not yet been confirmed, there are suspicions that WIT Studio is developing one. These suspicions come from the narrative development within the first season of Suicide Squad Isekai, which has left some major cliffhangers that might be revealed in the next season.
Suicide Squad Isekai is available to watch on Hulu.
