Christian Titz in the hot seat after Hannover 96 suffer latest setback

The pressure on Christian Titz isn't letting up after Hannover suffered their latest setback on Friday night – a result which leaves question marks over the head coach's future in Lower Saxony.

Following Friday's 2-1 loss to 1.FC Nürnberg, pressure is starting to mount on the shoulders of Hannover 96 head coach Christian Titz.  

With five matchdays played in the second division, they have only four points – far too few for the ambitions of the Lower Saxony club.

Speaking to Sky after the game, Jonas Boldt discussed whether Titz would still be on the sidelines for the next match against Bochum.

“That's the plan," he said. However, the club's managing director avoided giving his backing in a subsequent interview with Sport BILD.

"I'm really annoyed, and I'm not the type to spout slogans or make plans or draw any interim conclusions.

“The fact is we lost here. We have to be careful that we don't run in different directions like we did at the end of the game.

"You can use an international break to take a breather and discuss things objectively. But for me, it's primarily about the current situation. 

"We'll discuss that. I'm not basing it solely on this defeat. I had hoped we could carry the momentum from our fourth-place finish last season.

"That's why I said I wouldn't change anything for now. But it's obvious that we can't continue like this," Boldt concluded.

While an instant dismissal of Titz is unlikely for now, the head coach will need to stop the rot in order to keep his job in Lower Saxony.

Hannover patron Martin Kind – understood to be a supporter of Titz – would also need convincing to lay off the 55-year-old.
