Charlie Cox Sets a Marvel TV Record With Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Despite actor Charlie Cox‘s inclusion in the MCU happening only 5 years ago in a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, his ultimate entry into the franchise happened with Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again.

And now, with the second season making waves, Cox has also set the record for being the longest played Marvel TV superhero in the MCU, which comes to 11 years as the Man with No Fear, courtesy of Netflix‘s Daredevil becoming canon in the franchise.

The only other star that comes close to Cox’s record is none other than Samuel L. Jackson, who has played the role of Nick Fury in the MCU for almost 13 years since the days of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and most recently, in Disney+‘s Secret Invasion. The only reason why he doesn’t possess the title is that he made cameo appearances before his full-fledged feature in the recent series.

Charlie Cox Wants to Play Daredevil Till He’s in His 60s

With the recent release of Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 Episode 7, titled ‘The Hateful Darkness,’ making people eagerly await the finale episode, fans are chill about the future of the series. This is because Marvel Studios and Disney+ recently revealed that a third season is in the works and has the potential to be released as soon as the first quarter of next year (via IGN).

While fans were deeply happy about it, they were also curious about Charlie Cox’s plans in terms of how long he plans to play the role of the Man with No Fear in the MCU. Thankfully, this question was also answered by the star himself. In an interview panel at FAN EXPO San Francisco, Cox revealed that he had no plans to leave the character anytime soon, saying:

[Marvel’s] getting ready to release a comic that takes place where Matt Murdock is in his 60s, so I was like, ‘Oh, okay, great, so we got some time.’

Thus, giving the example of Marvel Comics’ Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell, which is widely considered among the best comics of 2025, Cox has clearly hinted that he is willing to stick to Daredevil for a long, long while.

Charlie Cox’s Next Daredevil Outing Should Be In Brand New Day

While we have seen Daredevil make his MCU movie debut in No Way Home, there hasn’t even been a peep about Cox’s return to the big screen in a more prominent capacity in the franchise since then. Luckily, the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day has the potential to bring Matt Murdock into the wider MCU.

The inclusion of the character in the film will make a lot of sense from both narrative and thematic standpoints, as Brand New Day is said to be a grounded, gritty Spider-Man story that aligns perfectly with Born Again’s theme. And with the inclusion of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, that point is further solidified.

But more than that, as Mark Ruffalo reprises the role of Bruce Banner / The Hulk, people are speculating that all the major characters within the film will be part of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. This will give Cox the wider MCU stage that Daredevil deserves, while also giving hints to the fate of the character after Phase 6 concludes in Secret Wars.

Thus, while it’s not confirmed whether Daredevil will be part of the upcoming Spider-Man film or not, his inclusion will be appreciated by the fans.
