Bleach fans might have been hoping to see Orihime Inoue grab the top spot, but they have to brace themselves a little, because she’s not even in the top 10. That said, her latest achievements in the Bleach TYBW anime could hypothetically make her stronger than the very character Japan chose in 2025.

As the sole physician of the Armed Detective Agency, she mends practically any wound with her ability Thou Shalt Not Die, but only after the injury turns near-fatal, a brutal condition that turns every rescue into a countdown against the clock ticking down. Voters admitted they’d rather not personally need her services precisely because of that trade-off, even while calling her one of the most reliable characters in the entire series and a genuine credit to the whole cast overall this time.

Second place belonged to Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Shoko Ieiri with about 10% support, prized for mastering a Reverse Cursed Technique that even Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer alive, can barely use on anyone but himself in a real fight. Third went to Josuke Higashikata from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, climbing from fifth place the year before with around 6% of the vote, thanks to a Stand that restores anything it touches except its own user, oddly enough given how often he personally gets hurt.

Titled “Defend You,” the episode picks up with Ichigo finally unlocking his new Bankai, Blood Chains Ichigo, only to watch Yhwach shrug off every attack thrown at him, including an overpowered Getsuga Tensho that barely leaves a mark on the Quincy King.

When Yhwach starts running Ichigo through with his Reishi blade again and again without stopping, Orihime Inoue refuses to let him stay down, healing him back to his feet every single time, no matter how many times he falls in that brutal loop. Rather than healing again as she has throughout the fight, she walks straight toward Yhwach, rejecting every Reishi beam he throws at her along the way without flinching once, and unleashes all six of her Shun Shun Rikka at once in an attempt to reject Yhwach’s very existence rather than just his effects on the battlefield.

The screen goes white, flower petals scatter everywhere, and both of them simply vanish, leaving Ichigo collapsed on the ground and Orihime’s fate completely unclear as the episode closes out. It’s a far bigger swing than anything healing alone could ever pull off, and it’s exactly the kind of moment that makes the Bleach fans’ case better than any survey ranking ever could hope to.
