Black Clover is well on its way to becoming the next Hunter x Hunter with its ungodly hiatus. Season 4 of the anime received its last episode in March 2021, and ever since then, there has been pin-drop silence from the anime staff.
On the one hand, fans are getting desperate for a new season, and on the other, the manga receives new chapters only once every four months. In this situation, Black Clover has just become a sore spot for Otakus. But there might be one way to make Black Clover season 5 the superhit that it needs to be.
Yuki Tabata needs to follow Tite Kubo’s footsteps to make Black Clover Season 5 a hit
The original Bleach anime stopped airing in 2012, and it took a whole decade for it to return with Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. The wait made everyone more skeptical about the new season, but it exceeded everyone’s expectations. Of course, the superb animation by Studio Pierrot, coupled with Tite Kubo‘s excellent plot, helped. But there was another factor that elevated the series.
Bleach: TYBW was filled with anime-original scenes. But while other anime like Boruto and Black Clover received hate for anime-original episodes, Bleach: TYBW did not. In fact, they cannot even be categorized as fillers, since they only helped to explain Kubo’s plot better.
Studio Pierrot went down a different route with Bleach: TYBW and the results are instantaneous. Fans have received the original scenes with much enthusiasm and even expressed that they have made the anime better.
Black Clover Season 5 can only be saved by TYBW-fying it
Season 5 of Black Clover is long overdue, and fans have started becoming antsy about it. And it is expected since the hiatus came out of nowhere and at the exact moment when the anime had entered its best arc. Naturally, fans have high expectations from its fifth season.
Studio Pierrot absolutely cannot fumble with it, and the best way to save the anime is to use the same trick that the studio used for Bleach: TYBW. Along with superior animation, Black Clover might do well with some anime original scenes. No, not filler episodes, which fans hate, but scenes that will further lift the anime’s plot.
With Pierrot acknowledging the importance of seasonal anime and Bleach: TYBW being a huge hit, Black Clover‘s TYBW-ification is no longer a far-fetched fantasy. If Yuki Tabata consents to the new changes, fans might receive a new and updated version of the series. With Season 5 set to adapt the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, it currently has the best chance to be revived.
Black Clover manga is available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
