billie eilish, jujutsu kaisen

SUMMARY

  • Billie Eilish's recent cover with Vogue has garnered the attention of Jujutsu Kaisen fans.
  • Her look was incredibly similar to Nanami Kento's style.
  • Fans unanimously agree that Nanami would make it as a model if he never returned to jujutsu sorcery.

On the recent cover of Vogue, Billie Eilish dons a suit and stuns with blonde hair. The look by the pop star bears a striking resemblance to a beloved Jujutsu Kaisen character, Nanami Kento. The tired and blond sorcerer is always seen wearing a blue shirt, with beige pants and blazer and a funky tie. Eilish’s outfit was almost the same with the pattern of the tie being the only exception. If this was intentional, it’s a smart way to get Jujutsu Kaisen fans to start listening to Billie Eilish.

Whether it was intentional or not, the anime community is roaring in excitement over the similarities and even pointed out some other characters she looks like. Nanami’s outfit in Jujutsu Kaisen is iconic to his character and the funky tie to his otherwise professional look adds to his personality. Fans compare Eilish’s photoshoot to an alternative path for Nanami, one that didn’t end so tragically.

Nanami Kento is a fan-favorite character who stands out due to his calm and protective nature in the dangerous and chaotic world of Jujutsu Kaisen. His deep voice and looks are the cherry on top of why fans like him so much. His budding friendship with the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, is charming and after the events of the Shibuya Arc, devastating. He’s made a lasting impression on fans and it seems so did his style.

In the vogue cover featuring Billie Eilish, fans observed how close she looked to Nanami and that if he hadn’t chosen to return to jujutsu sorcery, he would’ve made it as a model. It’s almost shocking how close the pop star looks to a gender-bent cosplay of him.

At first, I also thought this was a real-life picture of Sanji from One Piece, then I thought it was a Nanami cosplay. Now I realize it's neither! 😂 I didn't even read the caption on the first post.

It’s so uncanny and familiar that some even thought it was cosplay of either Nanami or Sanji from One Piece, whose professional style leaves a lasting impression too. Whether Eilish’s stylist intentionally made her look like Nanami is up to debate, with Jujutsu Kaisen’s rising popularity. But Nanami definitely would’ve been an unstoppable force in the modelling industry.

Fans Can’t Unsee Nanami On The Vogue Cover

Fans couldn’t believe that the Vogue cover was a professional photo shoot of a pop star and not Billie Eilish cosplaying for fun. Nanami’s entire aesthetic was in one photo there and it definitely suited the pop star as well. Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen stormed X with comparisons of the two. Thankfully, they were mostly positive, with a few salty haters of Eilish not happy with it.

Some fans speculate the resemblance was intentional on Eilish’s part with her history of loving anime, like naming her song Chihiro after the Spirited Away protagonist and her open liking for Attack on Titan. Some observed that this crossover indicates anime’s growing influence on mainstream fashion and to a global audience. Either way, Nanami will always be in the minds of Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available on Crunchyroll.
