Although It Ends with Us proved to be a massive hit at the box office, unfortunately, the themes of Colleen Hoover’s novel have been overshadowed by the hoopla surrounding its leads, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

Despite an impressive collection of $345M from a budget of $25M, the main focus surrounding the movie has been the ongoing tussle between Lively and Baldoni, which has taken a massive toll on the former emotionally.

But before Lively alleged that Baldoni was directly responsible for the apparent smear campaign against her, the actress took to her IG to share appreciation over being called a crown straightener.

While on paper, a crown straightener might not exactly resemble a compliment, to Blake Lively, it was probably “the best compliment of my life.” Elaborating on it, the actress added that she interpreted the term as someone who helps other women “whether they’re blood relatives or good friends.”

In the IG post, Lively shared photos that saw the actress assisting her costar Isabela Ferrer and It Ends With Us author with their attires.

Although these gestures earned the actress a lot of goodwill among fans, things quickly took a nosedive, and according to the Gossip Girl star, this was allegedly the doing of Justin Baldoni’s alleged smear campaign against her.

In her lawsuit, Lively alleged that her costar s-xually harassed her on set, and added that the alleged smear campaign against her was conspired by Baldoni and Wayfarer studios after she called them out, which apparently caused her “severe emotional distress”.

While many stood in support of the actress as a result, including Kate Beckinsale, who’s been subject to workplace abuse herself, in response to the lawsuit, Baldoni’s legal team fired back at his costar with their own narrative.

In an interview with People Magazine, the Clouds star’s lawyer alleged that the counter-lawsuit would unveil the truth and “expose the false and destructive narrative.”

In over three decades of legal practice, I’ve never witnessed such unethical behavior, fueled by those who abuse their power and manipulate the truth. This isn’t an isolated case; it’s a recurring pattern in Hollywood and the mainstream media where careers and reputations are destroyed to maintain control.

With no clear truth in sight, it can’t be said for certain who is in the right, but the drama has certainly taken a toll on Lively’s reputation, even though she has been backed by her other costars and the novel’s author.
