Insidious: Out of the Further is the next instalment in the Insidious franchise, after the conclusion of the Lambert family saga. Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson are not officially confirmed to reprise their role in this sixth instalment as Insidious moves on with a new cast. Deadline reported that the film will release on August 21, 2026, with Jacob Chase (Come Play, The Girl in the Woods) directing.
Insidious: The Red Door (2023) concluded a successful series of films surrounding Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson’s characters. The final film in the Lambert saga was the highest grosser so far, earning $189 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo as of April 11, 2026). Given that the new movie will not focus on them, the production studio Blumhouse needs to make the Insidious series worthwhile to continue with fresh faces.

What Is Insidious: Out of the Further About?
Insidious: Out of the Further | Credit: BlumhouseInsidious: Out of the Further, previously titled The Bleeding World, will be directed by Jacob Chase based on a script co-written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring 2, Orphan). Both The Conjuring 2 and Orphan were terrifying and highly rated, but unfortunately, Chase’s filmography has not reached the heights set by his co-writer. The plot of the movie remains intriguing enough for a visit (via Dread Central):
A trio of stalkers infiltrate a quiet suburb and force a new family into the astral plane, where they uncover a terrifying truth: the Further is bleeding into the real world.
The Further was sealed away at the end of Insidious: The Red Door, but the post-credits scene suggested that a threat lingered when a light flickered above the door.
More story threads about the movie and the characters are under wraps, but expect to hear more as a trailer is confirmed to release on April 13, 2026.
