The Proficiency system in Marvel Rivals is an individual player progression mechanic that represents how much time and effort you’ve put into a specific hero. As you level up, you not only reach better Proficiency Ranks but also acquire personal cosmetic rewards such as Nameplates, Sprays, Titles, Animated Icons, and even free Units. Previously, there were 5 Proficiency Ranks before the system was completely overhauled in Season 6.0, adding six more ranks and introducing a 70-level progression track.
So you've reached Lord status… now what?
The grind doesn't stop, Rivals! Our latest Hero Proficiency Upgrade is arriving with Season 6 of Marvel Rivals.

Hero Proficiencies are separate for each character, and you level up by completing general and role-specific missions and earning Proficiency Points. You earn a new Rank every 5 levels and unlock new rewards every 2-3 levels (then every 5 levels after LV50). With that said, here’s a breakdown of all Proficiency Ranks in Marvel Rivals.

All rewards are hero-specific, so the Title, Nameplate, Spray, KO Prompt, and Icon will depend on the hero you’re ranking up. Reaching Champion from Agent requires progressing through 70 levels with a specific hero, which can take more than 100 hours. However, the progression mechanic is permanent and won’t expire, and you can easily reach higher Proficiency Ranks quickly by consistently grinding both Quick Match and Competitive.
All Prestige Points earned before the Proficiency overhaul were converted into Proficiency Points and applied towards the levels. As a result, you may already have higher Proficiency Ranks for heroes you played frequently before Season 6.
Hero Proficiency Missions in Marvel Rivals Explained
Earn Points, level up, and unlock new rewards! | Credits: NetEase GamesEvery character in Marvel Rivals has two sets of three missions: Permanent and Daily. The first mission remains the same for all heroes: play with a hero for 15 minutes and earn 20 Proficiency Points. However, the other two missions depend on the hero’s role, so they will vary depending on whether you’re playing with a Duelist, Vanguard, or Strategist.
Here are all the Hero Proficiency mission types that you’ll need to complete to earn points and level up the progression track in Marvel Rivals:
- Hero Usage: The first mission is universal, and playing with a hero for 15 minutes will earn you 20 Proficiency Points.
- HP Mission: The second mission is based on HP and differs by role. Duelists need to deal damage to enemies, Vanguards need to block incoming damage, and Strategists need to heal allies. However, Deadpool’s mission requires him to deal damage and heal allies.
- KO Mission: The third mission focuses on securing kills and eliminating opponents. Duelists have to deal Final Hits, Vanguards require KOs, and Strategists need to get KOs and Assists (Deadpool included).
The mission requirements increase with each Rank, but stop scaling after you reach Lord. Every rank beyond Lord shares the same requirements as Lord. Returning to the mission types, there are Permanent Missions and Daily Missions. The former are infinitely repeatable and apply to Quick Match and Competitive, while the latter are repeatable up to 10 times every 24 hours and Arcade-exclusive.
As the mission requirements increase, so will the Proficiency Points awarded on completion, and to reach Champion Rank, all you have to do is play consistently. So, have you reached all Proficiency Ranks with a specific hero in Marvel Rivals yet? Let us know your thoughts and opinions on this progression system in the comments section below.
