Akane-Banashi dropped its Episode 2 on April 11, 2026, and has been raging the anime scene like a beast. The popular anime is following a weekly release schedule, and it’s available on multiple platforms. Episode 3 will air on April 18, 2026, at 9 AM PT/PDT, which is 12 PM ET.
Episode 1 gave us the gut-wrenching expulsion of Shinta by Master Issho Arakawa, while Episode 2 jumped forward six years, showing Akane’s growth into a formidable, albeit raw, talent. As she finally stood on a stage and vowed to surpass the elite Kaisei Arakawa, the stage was set for a transformation.

Akane-Banashi Episode 3 Global Release Time & Window
Akane-Banashi Episode 3 is scheduled to release on April 18, 2026, at 9 AM PT. For a series that relies so heavily on the nuance of voice acting and timing, staying updated with the global release window schedule is essential.
It is important to note that TV Asahi primarily broadcasts the anime in Japan at 11:30 pm JST on TV Asahi and other networks. However, there will be a 30-minute delay for the third episode’s release on Japanese TV channels and ABEMA/Netflix (via the anime’s official site). What to Expect From Akane-Banashi Episode 3?
Guriko Arakawa in Akane-Banashi. [Credit: Zexcs]If you have been following the manga, you know that the “prologue” is officially over. Episode 3 is where the real “Akane-Banashi” begins. After her impromptu performance in Episode 2, Akane has proven she has the “fire,” but she lacks the “form.” Expect Episode 3 to focus on her transition from a secret trainee to a formal apprentice under Master Shiguma Arakawa.
In the world of Rakugo, talent isn’t enough, and tradition is king. We are likely to see Akane enter the zenza stage, the lowest rank of the professional ladder. Akane is about to learn that being a Rakugoka is a lifestyle, not just a performance. I expect a bit of a reality check for our protagonist. While she has been training for six years, she hasn’t lived the life of a professional, and the hierarchy of the Shiguma school is notoriously strict.
Keep an eye out for more screen time from the senior pupils. We have already met Guriko and Kaisei in Episode 2, so Episode 3 will likely flesh out the dynamic within the Shiguma “family.” There is a certain charm in seeing these adults, who were once Shinta’s peers and juniors, now looking at his daughter as their “younger sister” apprentice.
