Georgie Grasso is the first Welsh winner following a 10-week of tough competition. Talking about the moment, Grasso told BBC Cymru Fyw,

I couldn’t believe I was the first Welsh person to get to the final – let alone win. It certainly adds to the achievement of not just winning the whole show, but a win for Wales too. Just a dream. It was something I never imagined I could achieve, for someone who’s so self doubting. I always wanted to apply but thought my baking was too amateur… I’m so incredibly proud of myself and I don’t say that often.

The show wrapped up in July, but she had to keep this news a secret from her friends and family until the finale episode premiered in November 2024. Explaining that situation, she further shared that “there were a couple of times where I wanted to announce it to my family.” However, you might think that the contestants battled against each other for a massive cash prize at the end.

But that’s not the case. The winners from every season received a bunch of flowers and a cake stand. Even though it is not as huge as we assumed, becoming a Bake Off winner means great things are waiting for you.

Georgie Grasso has openly talked about her ADHD

Georgie Grasso has fought ADHD, post-natal depression, and PTSD over the years, and she talked about it on her Instagram handle as well as on the show. The pediatric nurse and Bake Off winner admitted that many people who have ADHD contacted her and said they “felt seen.”

She told BBC Radio 5 Live, “It is still one of those topics that people don’t know about. Especially with adult women because for a lot of us it goes undiagnosed for so long and it does completely take over your life.” Grasso further mentioned how her ADHD symptoms affected the challenges on the show. The winner said,

For me, it just helped me to really focus, it got me a bit in the semi finals because I couldn’t read the instructions. That’s what I was struggling with and I thought I was done. But in the final… I had to make a plan and just stick to it, and that’s why with the technical challenge and the showstopper I just flew through it.

Following her success on the show, she has received a lot of love, support, and appreciation from the online community who have also suffered from such mental health issues.

When Georgie Grasso was asked what she cooked for Christmas in an interview with BBC, she responded that she was going to prepare a goose dinner for 10-12 people. She always makes a turkey to mix it up with pie and baguettes after Christmas.

However, her favorite Christmas dessert is cranberry frangipane. But her children don’t like it that much so she made, “chocolate profiteroles filled with cream for them”. Grasso doesn’t mind cooking during Christmas because she feels like “it’s part of the joy”.

Coming from a small town area of Carmarthenshire, Grasso’s love of food and especially baking comes from her Italian roots. In her younger days, she used to spend time cooking with her Nonna Rosa. Georgie Grasso’s cooking is inspired by the food growing in the fields and hedgerows around her along with the ingredients from her garden and the experiences she had while traveling. In addition to being a mother of three and a wife, she has a farmhouse that consists of ten chickens, two ducks, two dogs, and a cat.
