15 Features Rockstar Needs to Add to GTA 6 Online

GTA 6 Online hasn’t received any sort of acknowledgement from Rockstar, but that doesn’t mean it won’t arrive shortly after the base game launches on November 19, 2026. Grand Theft Auto 5’s decade-long longevity can be attributed to GTA Online and the amount of money Rockstar earns from it, so it’s ridiculous to think that GTA 6’s Online counterpart won’t be added weeks or months after launch.

However, making the upcoming title’s multiplayer component a copy-paste of GTA Online could be detrimental, and it needs to evolve in meaningful ways. So, here are 15 features that Rockstar needs to add to GTA 6 Online.

1 A Fresh Start For Every Player

Progress from GTA Online should not be carried over to GTA 6 Online since it’s going to feature an entirely new map, new mechanics, and new opportunities for every player to earn GTA$ from scratch. Everyone should begin on equal footing, and carrying over progress will turn off newcomers from ever touching Online in GTA 6, since lobbies will be filled with people who already have the means to get everything.

Sure, it might feel counterintuitive to lose a decade’s worth of progress, but the Los Santos chapter is over, and it’s time for players to have their humble beginnings in the state of Leonida. This leads directly to the next feature.

2 Loyalty Rewards & Returning Player Bonuses

Spending a decade exploring Los Santos with friends and strangers in GTA Online is no joke because many players grew up with the game. While progress should not transfer, Rockstar should reward returning players with bonuses and additional loyalty rewards in GTA 6 Online to balance things.

The bonuses should be meaningful enough for returning players to flaunt their dedication to GTA Online without giving them a gameplay advantage. The loyalty rewards could include Los Santos-inspired clothing, cosmetics, and perhaps discounts on vehicles and properties.

3 Little to No Loading Screens

Booting up GTA 5 and then having to sit through a minute-long loading screen before finally entering Online should not be a thing in GTA 6 Online. It’s a next-gen game after all, so loading screens should be minimal, and loading in general should be seamless across sessions and free roaming.

Rockstar and PlayStation have already confirmed in a blog post that Grand Theft Auto 6 will take full advantage of the PS5’s SSD to let players “experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times,” so this being integrated into GTA 6 Online isn’t exactly wishful thinking.

4 More Community-Driven Experiences

Recently, Rockstar introduced the Mission Creator in GTA Online, which lets players create unique experiences in the game using various tools and share them. This should be a feature in GTA 6 Online from the get-go, allowing the community to create their own narrative adventures or game modes as they please with the tools provided by Rockstar itself.

Additionally, if Rockstar actually adds a mission creator in GTA 6 Online, it should be significantly improved from its current iteration in GTA Online, letting the community go crazy with their ideas and imagination.

5 Full Solo Support

GTA 6 Online players should have full solo support for every mission at launch, letting players enjoy Leonida at their own pace while in multiplayer. There shouldn’t be any disadvantage for people wanting to grind missions solo in Online, and accessibility should go beyond just a range of solo-playable activities, with everything designed to support solo play.

The game should also never force co-op unless the player wants to, and AI teammates could instead do the job when completing missions solo.

6 Improved Security

Hackers and cheaters have been a plague on the GTA Online community, ruining the experiences of players who simply want to enjoy the game as intended, and that’s a problem. So, while it’s technically not a gameplay feature, GTA 6 Online should have better session security to prevent cheaters and hackers from dragging down the experience for everyone.

Sure, there’ll probably still be hackers in GTA 6 Online, but stricter security can help weed them out so players can actually go out of their properties without getting blown up.

7 Diverse Content Updates

GTA Online already features weekly updates that add new content or bring back returning events and activities. While that should be consistent for GTA 6 Online, the major updates should be more diverse, including unique and wacky game modes that don’t necessarily need to cater to the grounded realism of the game’s single-player counterpart.

With a massive budget and a long development cycle, GTA 6 Online should become a role-player’s dream with the content updates. Give us more dynamic survival modes, alien invasions, and stuff like that, and go all out with the content updates.

8 More Customization Options

GTA 6’s Ultimate Edition has already given us a taste of the customization options we can expect in the state of Leonida, and it’ll be a mistake not to include them in GTA 6 Online. Let players mod their cars, change the interiors of their vehicles and properties, style themselves, change their hairstyles, color their nails, and whatnot.

Player expression should be the utmost priority, and given the number of cosmetics and styling options we’ve already seen in the game’s Ultimate Edition, Rockstar needs to carry the same level of depth into GTA 6 Online.

9 Social Media Integration

If you’ve watched the GTA 6 trailers, which, of course, you have, you must have noticed the social media clips, influencer posts, and livestreams, leading us to believe that social media will play a significant role in making Leonida feel more lively in the base game. This feature should also be integrated into GTA 6 Online.

There should be an in-game feed showing what other players in a lobby are doing. Players should also be able to capture clips and screenshots and upload them. At the same time, events and game modes, including community-created missions, should be discoverable via an in-game app to make Leonida feel more immersive and lively in GTA 6 Online.

10 Purchasable and Customizable Mansions

Purchasable Mansions were one of the most requested features in GTA Online, and after a decade of waiting, Rockstar finally added them with A Safehouse in the Hills. This should be a feature in GTA 6 Online from day one, letting players purchase Mansions and customize them to their heart’s content across Leonida.

Speaking of customization, it should be extensive for Mansions, allowing players to change and decorate their interiors and personalize their million-dollar abodes however they like.

11 Improved Police Behaviour

Police behaviour in GTA Online was questionable, to say the least, and it needs to improve in GTA 6 Online. No more cops spawning extremely close to you or helicopters randomly popping in and raining hell from above. The police should act more realistically, making chases actually thrilling and forcing players to evade authorities strategically.

As soon as you get a 3+ star Wanted Level, the entire task force swarms your location, so police AI should receive several enhancements in the upcoming game.

12 Crossplay

GTA Online does not support crossplay, which means if you’re on PlayStation and your friend’s on PC, say goodbye to playing together. So, crossplay should be a feature in GTA 6 Online from launch day, letting players on all platforms join the same multiplayer lobbies. Even if it’s not there at launch, crossplay should be added whenever the game launches on PC.

13 Dynamic Weather System

Leonida is already looking way more dynamic than Los Santos, and to keep that immersion consistent, dynamic weather systems are a requirement in GTA 6 Online. Not just surface-level weather conditions like sunny skies and strong winds, there need to be floods and natural disasters like hurricanes and massive storms to make the world feel much more lively.

14 More NPCs

The NPCs in Grand Theft Auto 6 look and behave far more realistically than those in previous entries, and that should carry over to GTA 6 Online for better immersion. Plus, the game will apparently have a relationship bar similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor system, which could be integrated into multiplayer to make the digital world feel interactive.

15 More Locations to Explore

With Leonida shaping up to be the largest open world in any GTA title, GTA 6 Online’s map should not only evolve with new weather systems but also with new locations and cities to explore. This doesn’t need to be a feature at launch. But Rockstar should continue updating the game with areas and locations separate from Leonida, offering fresh opportunities for players to get their hands dirty.

GTA 6 Online is still a long way off, but these features will make it more expansive and immersive than GTA Online ever was.
