Roronoa Zoro is usually remembered as the calm, intimidating swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates. Whether he is cutting down impossible opponents or standing beside Luffy during the crew’s darkest moments, Zoro often carries an aura of seriousness. Yet Eiichiro Oda has repeatedly used that very personality to create some of the funniest moments in One Piece.
From getting hopelessly lost to delivering perfectly timed deadpan jokes, Zoro’s comedy never feels forced. His funniest scenes often happen because he treats the most ridiculous situations with complete sincerity, making them even more memorable than many of the series’ planned gags.
10 Zoro Got Lost on a Path That Went Straight Ahead

During Episodes 664 and 665, Luffy literally points toward a long, straight hallway and tells Zoro to keep walking forward. Somehow, only a few moments later, Zoro disappears after randomly turning away from the obvious path.
The joke works because Oda keeps escalating an already familiar gag. At this point, nobody in the crew is even surprised anymore, making their reactions just as entertaining as Zoro’s complete confidence. Even with a perfectly clear direction, the future World’s Greatest Swordsman somehow manages to lose his way. However, as it has been a running gag for years, a tenth place is a good way to start this list.
9 Zoro Lost to Pica’s High-Pitched Voice

In Episodes 681 and 682, Pica finally speaks, revealing an unexpectedly high-pitched voice that completely shatters his terrifying appearance.
Instead of maintaining his usual stoic expression, Zoro bursts into uncontrollable laughter right in front of his opponent. Watching someone as serious as Zoro completely lose composure over something so childish remains one of the funniest examples of Oda’s sense of humor. Pica’s voice was a running gag throughout the arc, so a ninth place is a good spot for it.
8 Zoro Tried Chopping Luffy’s Bottle Off With an Axe

After Luffy somehow gets his thumb stuck inside a glass bottle, everyone searches for a solution while Zoro quietly comes up with his own.
His answer is to casually grab a giant axe and prepare to chop the bottle straight off Luffy’s hand. The scene perfectly captures Zoro’s straightforward way of thinking. His solution sounds practical to him, while everyone else immediately realizes just how disastrous it could become. It’s for more of a spontaneous burst of laughter rather than a prolonged well thought joke, so it’s better to keep it at the eight spot.
7 Zoro Mistook a Celestial Dragon for a Normal Citizen

Having no idea who the Celestial Dragons are or why everyone fears them, Zoro simply reacts the only way he knows – by preparing to cut Charlos down.
The funniest part is that Zoro never realizes how close he comes to causing an international incident. While the crowd panics and desperately tries to stop him, he looks genuinely confused about everyone’s reaction. His complete ignorance of the world’s political hierarchy makes the moment unforgettable, but due having a bunch of more hilarious moments, this will have to be satisfied with the 7th spot.
6 Zoro Turned Usopp Into the Sogeking Sword

Rather than treating the situation as a disadvantage, Zoro grabs Usopp by the legs and literally swings him around like a fourth sword using the technique “Hana Arashi” or “Nose Storm.” It is such an absurd solution that it somehow fits perfectly within One Piece‘s unique brand of comedy, putting it at number 6 on this list.
5 Zoro Lost a Fight to a Chimney

In Episode 257, he is blasted backward and falls headfirst into one, getting stuck upside down with only his legs sticking out.
The visual alone is hilarious, but Chopper’s reaction elevates the scene even further. Seeing the crew’s strongest swordsman transformed into what looks like part of the roof completely destroys his intimidating image for a few minutes.
4 Zoro Completely Erased Kokoro From His Memory

After meeting her during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc in Episode 386, the crew reminds Zoro that they have actually met a mermaid before: Kokoro from Water Seven. Rather than accepting the fact, Zoro simply refuses to believe it.
He stares blankly before deciding to erase the memory entirely, prompting Chopper to shout that Zoro “completely deleted” it from his brain. It is classic deadpan humor that perfectly matches Zoro’s personality while also poking fun at fans’ expectations about mermaids.
3 Zoro Told Nami to Strike a Pose Before Becoming Wax Statues

In Episode 76, Mr. 3 puts Zoro, Nami, and Vivi into a huge wax sculpture, leaving them seemingly unable to escape before being preserved as wax figures forever.
Instead of losing their temper, Zoro decides that they need to look impressive when they become wax figures. His complete acceptance of the situation is so ridiculous that even Nami cannot believe what she is hearing. It remains one of the funniest examples of Zoro refusing to panic under pressure, and is perfect for the 3rd spot on this list.
2 Zoro’s Tarzan Call Left the Entire Crew Speechless

The joke becomes even better when Nami fails to cross the same way. Zoro sincerely tells her it is because she did not make the Tarzan yell. The absolute seriousness with which he delivers such ridiculous advice leaves Nami speechless and turns an ordinary jungle scene into comedy gold, which is why it takes the 2nd spot.
1 Zoro Got on the Wrong Ship After the Time Skip
Following the two-year time skip, Zoro actually becomes the first Straw Hat to arrive at Sabaody Archipelago in Episode 518. Unfortunately, his famous lack of direction immediately catches up with him. After falling asleep while fishing, he wakes up aboard a pirate ship that has already sailed away.
Rather than asking for help, Zoro simply slices the enormous ship in half before calmly walking away and admitting, “I got on the wrong ship.” The line perfectly sums up why Zoro’s comedy works so well, helping it take the 1st spot. Only he could accidentally destroy an entire pirate crew because of a simple navigational mistake and treat it like a minor inconvenience.
Now the big question – Which Zoro moment always makes you laugh the hardest, and is there another hilarious scene that deserves a place on this list? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
