Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains some spoilers from Mushoku Tensei light novel.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation features many strong warriors, excellent swordsmen, and powerful magicians whose abilities could change the outcome of a war. Even though Rudeus Greyrat is the protagonist, he is far from the only fighter capable of shaking the world. While some of the characters became strong through tough training, some were simply born with power that very few could ever hope to match.
From immortal Demon Kings and legendary heroes to the mighty Dragon God himself, these characters managed to make their presence felt by their amazing and memorable fights. The following ranking is based on each character’s peak demonstrated combat ability in the Mushoku Tensei light novels. As Season 3 has just been released, we think it’s the perfect time to rank the strongest characters in the show, according to the light novel canon.
10 Ruijerd Never Lost the Skills That Made the Superd Feared
Ruijerd Superdia from the anime series Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindRuijerd is introduced as one of the last surviving members of the feared Superd race, but it doesn’t take long to understand why people once feared warriors like him. During the Demon Continent arc, he protects Rudeus and Eris through countless dangerous battles using nothing but his spear, battle instincts, and years of experience. Even skilled adventurers struggle to keep up with his speed and precision.
What makes Ruijerd so dangerous is that he almost never makes mistakes. His third eye acts as a radar to detect enemy mana signatures, and centuries of fighting have taught him how to stay calm. While his spear skills are flawless, he ultimately ranks at the bottom because he lacks the high-tier battle aura, god-style ultimate techniques, and destructive magical output found above him.
9 Eris Became One of the Strongest Swordswomen Alive
Eris Boreas Greyrat from the anime Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindEris, who returns again in Season 3, starts the story as a reckless young girl who relies more on her emotions than her sword. However, everything changes after the Teleportation Incident. Determined to become stronger, she trains under the Sword God Gal Farion and slowly grows into one of the greatest swordswomen in the world. Her lack of magic and limited long-range options stop her from climbing higher, but after officially attaining the rank of Sword King, she remains one of the absolute best human swordswomen alive.
Her fighting style is simple but terrifying. Eris attacks without hesitation and keeps pushing forward until her opponent falls. During the final battles of the light novels, she proves that her speed and strength are enough to stand beside some of the strongest warriors in the series, even if she cannot use magic herself.
8 Perugius Let His Magic Do the Fighting for Him
Perugius Dola from the anime Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindPerugius Dola is one of the legendary heroes who helped stop Demon God Laplace during the Laplace War. By the time Rudeus meets him in the Sky Fortress Chaos Breaker, he has already spent hundreds of years living in isolation while waiting for Laplace’s return.
Unlike many powerful characters, Perugius rarely fights with his own hands. Instead, he relies on his twelve divine attendants, advanced barrier magic, and ancient spells that very few people can understand. He ranks here because his power relies entirely on setup, preparations, and his fortress; if caught in a sudden, high-speed duel, he can be overwhelmed by pure speed.
7 Rudeus Took Magic Further Than Almost Anyone Else
From the moment Rudeus learns chantless magic as a child, it becomes clear that he is different from every other magician. His huge mana reserves and creative way of using spells allow him to perform magic that surprises even experienced masters. Throughout arcs like the Magic University and the Shirone Kingdom conflict, he continues finding new ways to grow stronger.
His biggest advantage comes after building the Magic Armor. It covers his greatest weakness by giving him the protection and mobility needed to fight powerful close-range opponents. Without it, Rudeus is still physically vulnerable, which is why he falls just short of the series’ true god-tier fighters despite his incredible magical talent.
6 Aleksander Mixed Skill, Strength, and a Legendary Sword

While his combat techniques are somewhat straightforward, his immense physical strength allows him to overpower many experienced warriors.
He becomes even more dangerous because of his inherited Immortal Demon clan bloodline, which grants him near-instantaneous regeneration, and the Dragon King Sword, one of the strongest weapons in the series. Even with his incredible abilities, Aleksander relies heavily on the Dragon King Sword. Against the absolute strongest fighters, that dependence keeps him from climbing even higher.
5 Jino Surpassed His Master to Become the Ultimate Swordsman
Jino Britts from the Mushoku Tensei series. | Credit: Seven SeasVery few people can say they became stronger than the person who trained them, but Jino Britts did exactly that. Driven by an absolute obsession to win the hand of Nina Farion, he defeated Gal Farion to earn the title of Sword God and proved that unwavering determination can overcome even the greatest legends.
Jino’s greatest strength is his unbelievable speed. His Sword of Light technique is so fast that many opponents never get the chance to react. Instead of using complicated tricks, he wins through perfect timing and flawless swordsmanship, making him one of the deadliest duelists in Mushoku Tensei. While his swordsmanship is nearly unmatched, he lacks the overwhelming magical abilities and supernatural powers possessed by the top four.
4 Demon God Laplace Left the World Living in Fear
Laplace from the Mushoku Tensei series. | Credit: Seven SeasDemon God Laplace is one of the biggest reasons the world of Mushoku Tensei looks the way it does today. After the original Demonic Dragon King Laplace split into two beings, Demon God Laplace inherited his incredible mana and overwhelming magical power. He later became the central figure of the Laplace War.
Even after Perugius and the other heroes managed to seal him, the fear of his return never disappeared, proving why he remains one of the strongest beings in the series’ history. Kingdoms continued preparing for the day he would come back, showing just how much damage one person was capable of causing. Very few villains have left such a lasting impact.
3 Badigadi Became Almost Unbeatable in the Fighting God Armor
Badigadi from the anime series Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindBadigadi often acts like a carefree Demon King, but that personality hides his potential. Thanks to his immortal body, he can naturally recover from injuries that would kill almost anyone else, though his personal offensive capabilities are relatively modest on their own.
Everything changes when he wears the Fighting God Armor. The legendary armor provides the raw destructive force his regular body lacks and turns him into a walking disaster. Without the Fighting God Armor, Badigadi would rank much lower, but with it, he becomes one of the most terrifying beings in the entire series.
2 Hitogami Changed the World Without Fighting Anyone
Man-God (Hitogami) from the anime series Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindHitogami rarely enters a battlefield, yet almost every major event in the story is connected to him in some way. Instead of using swords or magic, he controls people through dreams, advice, and careful manipulation. Many characters believe they are making their own choices when they are actually following his plans.
That is what makes Hitogami so frightening. He doesn’t need to defeat his enemies with force because he can often make them destroy themselves. His long battle with Orsted becomes one of the biggest conflicts in the series, even though it is fought through planning as much as power.
1 Orsted Possesses Overwhelming Power Beyond Any Living Fighter
Orsted from the anime series Mushoku Tensei. | Credit: Studio BindThere has never been much debate about who deserves the top spot. From the moment Orsted appears during the Demon Continent journey, it becomes clear that he exists on a completely different level from everyone else. He defeats powerful opponents with ease and rarely needs to show his full strength.
Orsted combines incredible swordsmanship, overwhelming magic, dragon techniques, and knowledge gained from repeating the same timeline over and over. While Technique God Laplace technically holds the highest place on the Seven Great Powers monument, Orsted is the strongest active fighter in the current era. Simply put, no living character can match him when he fights seriously.
