As a middle ground, audiences have collectively agreed that Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing is the most hilarious character from the series. However, this still does not answer the question of who the best ‘Friend’ actually is. While some may lean towards Rachel Green or even Monica Geller, there is one other person who has always been a reliable companion through thick and thin.

Who is the Best FRIEND?

For years, fans have been trying to figure out who the most hilarious character in FRIENDS was. While they have collectively agreed on Chandler Bing being the best answer to the question, there is one other debate that has fans more polarized. With reference to the name of the show, fans could not help but wonder who the best friend was from the show.

Not for their comedic appeal, how likable or attractive they were, but purely based on how they treated those they were closest to. Although fans love Matthew Perry’s character, there is no denying that he has had his ‘bad friend’ moments throughout the years.

However, there has been one character who has consistently been supportive of those around them. From the very first season to the end of the show, Joey Tribbiani has consistently been one of the most reliable and trustworthy characters in the entire series. It would seem that this is not an isolated thought, as several other fans of the series chimed in agreement in a Reddit discussion.

Why is Joey the Best Character from FRIENDS?

In the discussion, fans began to point out several instances where Joey proved just how good of a friend he could be. Starting off, they talked about how much he cares about Phoebe and how he is absolutely not afraid to show it. The perfect example of this would be when she was pregnant.

When she began to crave meat but felt guilty about killing animals, Joey ended up becoming a vegetarian just so that the number of animals that were killed was the same. While this gesture touched many fans, Phoebe wasn’t the only character who got to be on the receiving end of his kindness.

The way that he was always cautious about Ross’ feelings when he was pursuing Rachel continues to melt the hearts of fans. Although on the outside, he seems to be a two-dimensional goofball, his ability to care for those around him and showcase it in the kindest way possible proves just how good of a friend he is.

From being the object of ridicule so that Monica can feel better, to standing up to the bullies from Chandler and Ross’ past, and even not wanting to lie to people just because it’s a bad thing to do. It is no wonder that he managed to sneak into the hearts of fans, right behind Chandler’s back.

Friends is available for streaming on Netflix.
