One Piece: Eiichiro Oda Badly Fumbled a Crucial Scene That Stained Zoro’s Status as a Master Swordsman for No Reason

The character development of Roronoa Zoro in One Piece is one of the most talked-about aspects of the series. The swordsman is one of the few characters who has seen significant growth ever since the series started. He now has reached the status of a Master Swordsman, which is only available for a very few characters in the series.

The one important element that contributes to his status as a Master Swordsman is his ability to cut through anything. He first talked about it during the Alabasta saga, and ever since then, he has proved himself worthy by making sure that he lives up to this condition of becoming a master swordsman.

However, there is one thing that could have challenged Zoro’s will to cut through anything. It was the bird cage that Doflamingo used during the Dressrosa arc, which essentially was one of the strongest things in One Piece. However, Eiichiro Oda never even tried to give Zoro a chance to cut through it, which ultimately became a stain on Zoro’s legacy in One Piece.

The Devastating Strength of Doflamingo’s Bird Cage

Doflamingo’s Bird Cage, or Torikago, is a technique that holds the most importance in the antagonist’s arsenal. It was his ultimate move that he used to not only isolate Dressrosa from the entire One Piece world, but its strength alone caused a lot of destruction in the region.

The strings of the birdcage were so strong that it cut through almost everything in its path, and when it couldn’t cut through something, the strings would just push it to the center. Many One Piece characters tried to stop the birdcage but failed miserably because of his terrifying power.

Even Admiral Fujitora tried to destroy it but evidently failed. He not only used his sword to stop the movement of the birdcage but also brought down a meteor with the help of his Devil Fruit abilities. However, even a meteor could not crash through the birdcage, which itself explains the strength of Doflamingo’s strings.

The Biggest Stain on Zoro’s Abilities as a Swordsman

Ever since One Piece started, Zoro has been trying to prove himself as a master swordsman by taking on any and every challenge in his path. Be it the Sword God, Ryuma, or Emperor Kaido, Zoro has made sure that he never leaves any room for doubt in his power.

However, when it came to stopping the birdcage, Zoro never even tried to cut through it. Although he did try to stop it by lacing his swords with Armament Haki, it had no effect on it.

Thus, it is probably the only thing that Zoro couldn’t stop with his blades and didn’t try to cut.

This might not be good for Zoro’s character, as his entire persona as a master swordsman was built on the fact that he could cut through anything. Eiichiro Oda could have used it to give Zoro’s character even more hype, but instead, it became the biggest issue in his status as a master swordsman in One Piece.
