The Nintendo Switch 2 Needs Elden Ring Now More Than Ever

Although we still don’t know when Nintendo Switch 2 will be debuting, there has been a surge of excitement among gamers. In the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen tons of rumors swirling around online about how much the console might cost and its potential release date.

It’s a known fact among gamers that Nintendo has always launched its ground-breaking consoles with an exciting and power-packed game lineup. However, if Nintendo Switch 2 truly wants to leave its mark on gamers, it must bring Hidetaka Miyazaki’s best creation ever, Elden Ring, as a day-one title.

Despite the critical acclaim and outpouring of fan support for the Soulslike series over the years, it’s mind-boggling that the only game to ever drop on a Nintendo Switch console was Dark Souls Remastered. Since then, FromSoftware has released its very own magnum ops with Elden Ring.

With Elden Ring, FromSoftware took the framework it set up with the original Dark Souls trilogy and gave it an open-world twist. It proved to be a brilliant step forward for the Soulslike genre that takes the series’ familiar combat, lore, and exploration to the next level.

Due to the fact that the Elden Ring was such an upgrade, it had to leave the Nintendo Switch behind. However, with the game seeing success on handhelds such as ASUS Rog Ally and Steam Deck, it shouldn’t have an issue running on Nintendo’s most powerful console.

FromSoftware hasn’t had the best partnership with Nintendo, but both companies must know about the revenue such a release could bring to the table. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope they both can work this out and make it happen.

Nintendo Switch 2 Might Even Feature a Big EA Franchise

Even though Nintendo’s much-anticipated console still hasn’t been officially revealed, developers left and right are already confirming their games for it. Respawn Entertainment, the mind behind the Battlefield franchise, for its part, still hasn’t revealed any plans for the upcoming Nintendo console.

When asked about the possibility of porting Battlefield to the Nintendo Switch 2, the studio’s CEO, Vince Zampella, stated that he “can’t really comment” due to the fact that the system hasn’t been announced.

However, he’s open to the idea of bringing the Battlefield series on the upcoming device, all while considering Nintendo to be a phenomenal partner.

A Battlefield title on the next-generation Switch console would prove to be huge for the long-running FPS series. Despite getting tons of installments in the last couple of decades, the franchise still hasn’t made its way to a Nintendo system and is limited to Xbox, PlayStation, and PCs.

Even if Respawn is dead set on bringing the legendary franchise to the next Switch console, the chances of its Nintendo port starting with the next entry in the Battlefield franchise are quite low. Battlefield titles are known to be pushing the boundaries of graphics, and Nintendo isn’t a name that’s known for competing in the console spec race.

Hence, it’s much more likely that if Respawn plans to bring a Battlefield game to Nintendo Switch 2, it would happen with some of the classic entries in the series.
