We Need the Techmarine: Space Marine 2 Reveals “Plans” to Add More Classes after the Initial 6

Alongside the main campaign, the game features a variety of game modes and features that allowed it to become a smash hit. One of these is character classes, which completely change the landscape of every fight. Saber Interactive recognizes their importance and already has “plans” in motion to introduce more classes to elevate gameplay.

Space Marine 2 Desperately Needs More Classes

Paired with fellow Ultramarines to fight off against an alien invasion force, gamers in Space Marine 2 have six different classes to choose from when fighting back against the hordes of Tryanids and other threats. Each class brings a distinct ability to the table, while some of them specialize in specific weapon types.

While they’re certainly a defining addition to the title, gamers can’t help but wonder if the Saber will ever bring more to the game. In an interview, the studio’s Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, touched upon the development of the game. When inquired if there’ll ever be more class additions to the game, here’s what he had to say:

Yes, we have plans for it. There will be new stuff for everything.

It’s great to see that the development team is actively listening to player feedback and planning to introduce more classes to the game with future updates. However, we can’t help but think that the addition of Techmarines as a class would shake up the meta in Space Marine 2.

If you’re unaware, in the Warhammer 40k universe, Techmarines are specialized soldiers who are known for maintaining and repairing advanced machinery, vehicles, and weaponry. Trained directly by the Adeptus Mechanicus, they possess both combat mastery and deep technical knowledge.

In Space Marine 2, Techmarines, as a character class, could bend combat and support roles. Equipped with ranged weapons and servo-arms, they can help deploy defensive turrets and target nearby enemies.

Their mechanical expertise could boost offense while maintaining battlefield utility. The potential is unlimited when it comes to a powerful class like this.

Even before Space Marine 2 debuted, reviewers praised various elements of the game, and now that it has finally hit the shelves, gamers can’t get enough of it. According to SteamDB, the title hit a peak of 225,690 concurrent players.

While it’s not as impressive as Helldivers 2, it has certainly set a new precedent for the industry. The Space Marine sequel is the most-played Warhammer title ever and smashes all previous entries in the legendary series by a long shot.

Gamers have constantly praised Saber’s attention to detail for the game’s campaign mode, which lasts 15 hours and induces deep storytelling without compromising on action. It’s a massive improvement over the original game in terms of graphics, sound, and gameplay aspects.

What’s even more fantastic is the title’s customization and co-op multiplayer modes, as they elevate the gameplay and offer new ways to fend off the horde of aliens.

We already have a post-launch roadmap for the game that’s set to bring new additions including weapons, skins, features, and much more. With Henry Cavill’s plans to get the franchise to big screens soon, the future is looking bright for Space Marine 2.
