After eight episodes of conspiracies, betrayals, international intrigue, and heartbreaking family drama, Unconditional finally brings Orna’s journey to a dramatic conclusion. The season finale answers some of the show’s biggest questions, including Gali’s fate and the significance of the stolen Raven missile guidance drive, while leaving enough ambiguity for a potential second season.

Throughout the Apple TV series, Orna fought through lies, political manipulation, and shocking revelations about her daughter’s criminal past. By the finale, she has learned that Gali was never the innocent victim she imagined. Yet her determination to save her daughter never wavers. The final episode (Episode 8) ultimately becomes a story about a mother’s unconditional love, even after discovering the darkest truths about the person she is trying to protect.

And even as Orna and Gali shoot Mikhail to escape, Kyril appears to be an angel in disguise who shows empathy and lets the mother-daughter duo go. Perhaps he felt guilty, which is why he showed compassion. The episode never explains this clearly, but leaves clues for the viewers to catch. How Do Orna and Gali Meet Again?

After a thrilling Episode 7, the Unconditional finale picks up the narrative, with Orna in possession of the Raven drive that virtually everyone has been searching for. Knowing the drive is her only leverage, Orna travels back to Moscow and contacts Kyril. She informs him that she has recovered the drive but takes precautions to protect herself. Rather than carrying it openly, she places it inside a secure bank safe deposit box, ensuring nobody can simply take it from her.

Orna then makes her demands clear: She will only reveal the location of the drive if Mikhail agrees to release Gali. Kyril arranges a meeting and takes Orna to Mikhail’s estate, where she finally learns what happened after Gali disappeared from prison.

The episode reveals that six weeks earlier, Gali was secretly broken out of jail and delivered directly to Mikhail. At first, he intended to kill her for stealing from him and jeopardizing his operation. However, Gali managed to stop him by revealing something important.

The audience does not immediately learn what she told him, but it becomes clear that the secret was significant enough to save her life. Soon afterward, Orna and Gali finally reunite for the first time in Unconditional.

Gali appears strangely calm despite being held by one of the most dangerous men in Russia. Instead of desperately wanting to leave, she insists she is fine and avoids discussing what has happened during her time with Mikhail. Her behavior worries Orna.

Why Does Gali Come Back With Mikhail?

Orna’s plan revolves around the bank safe. She tells Mikhail that only Gali can access the deposit box containing the Raven drive. As a result, Gali travels with Mikhail’s people to retrieve it while Orna remains behind. Before she leaves, Orna gives her daughter a simple instruction: once the drive is recovered, do not return to Mikhail’s estate.

Instead, she should use the opportunity to escape and contact the Israeli embassy. But when the vehicle returns, Gali is inside. Kyril later explains that nobody forced her to come back. According to him, Gali chose to return. The truth behind that decision emerges during a family dinner later in the episode.

It is revealed that Gali is pregnant with Roma’s child. The revelation completely changes the dynamic between Gali and Mikhail. Roma may be absent, but the baby represents Mikhail’s future grandson and the continuation of his family line. Suddenly, many of Mikhail’s earlier actions make sense.

The secret Gali told him after her prison escape was almost certainly her pregnancy. Rather than seeing her solely as the thief who betrayed him, Mikhail began viewing her as the mother of his future grandchild. This explains why he keeps her close, protects her, and integrates her into the household.

It also explains why Gali appears conflicted. She tells Orna that she wants to leave, but believes terrible things will happen if she does. Mikhail repeatedly emphasizes that family is everything. He wants his bloodline to continue, and he sees the unborn child as his legacy.

At one point, he even offers Orna a place within that future. He tells her she can remain with them at the estate or live anywhere in the world at his expense. There is only one condition- the child stays with Mikhail. For Orna, the offer is simply another form of imprisonment.

Orna and Gali Finally Escape Mikhail

Realizing that Gali may never leave willingly if she remains under Mikhail’s influence, Orna decides to take matters into her own hands. Under the cover of darkness, she sneaks Gali out of the estate and attempts to flee. The escape quickly unravels.

Mikhail’s men catch up with them, and the pressure causes Gali to panic. She crashes the vehicle, which then leads to the episode’s climactic confrontation.

Mikhail captures Orna and takes her to a bridge, where he threatens to kill her. But before he can carry out the threat, Gali arrives. Mother and daughter finally stand together against him. In the struggle that follows, they overpower Mikhail and shoot him.

The scene appears to end his reign of control, but the show deliberately leaves his fate uncertain. Mikhail is shot twice in the shoulder rather than in a clearly fatal location. As a result, there is no definitive confirmation that he dies. He could succumb to his injuries, or he could survive and return in the future. The ambiguity feels intentional, leaving room for a potential Unconditional season 2.

Why Does Kyril Let Orna and Gali Go?

Shortly after the incident with Mikhail, Kyril arrives at the scene. Given his loyalty to Mikhail throughout the story of Unconditional, viewers might expect him to arrest Orna and Gali or force them back into captivity.

Instead, he does nothing. His silence becomes one of the finale’s most important moments. As seen in Unconditional episode 5 too, Kyril is known to show flashes of humanity beneath his intimidating exterior. He was often the one person willing to offer Orna information, guidance, or empathy when everyone else treated her as a nuisance.

The finale suggests that Kyril understands exactly what has happened. He knows Mikhail’s obsession with legacy has spiraled out of control. He knows Orna and Gali have suffered immensely. And perhaps most importantly, he knows that continuing the cycle will only create more destruction. So he makes a choice that changes Orna and Gali’s fate forever. He lets them go, showing compassion rather than loyalty to Mikhail.

In the final moments of Unconditional season finale, Orna and Gali are together, celebrating Gali’s birthday at a café. Gali is still pregnant, and for the first time in the series, both women appear genuinely at peace. Yet the ending remains deliberately uneasy.

A mysterious man appears to be watching them from a distance, creating the sense that their troubles may not be entirely over.

If Mikhail survived, he could still return for the grandson he values above everything else. If other players remain interested in the Raven project, Orna and Gali may never be completely safe. But after everything they endured, the sweet taste of freedom is enough.
