Episode 5 of Apple TV’s Unconditional intricately breaks down the mirage that had been set up by the past episodes in the story. Since the premiere of Unconditional, Orna has been fighting to prove that her daughter was an innocent young woman caught in a political nightmare. But as she returns to Moscow in search of answers, the truth that emerges is far more complicated. It changes the way we see Gali and her previous actions.
The episode opens with a new crisis. Gali has disappeared from prison, and nobody seems to know where she is. Russian authorities refuse to provide clear answers, Israeli officials claim they have limited influence, and every lead Orna follows only uncovers more secrets. As the search intensifies, Orna discovers that Gali’s arrest was never as simple as drug trafficking charges. By the end of the Unconditional episode 5, she learns that her daughter may have been at the center of the entire criminal operation all along.

Why Does Orna Go to Moscow?
Following the events of Unconditional Episode 4, Orna returns to Moscow alongside Rita, the Special Attaché from Israel’s Ministry of Defence. Although Rita promises to help uncover the truth, Orna quickly realizes that even government officials seem to be operating with incomplete information.
Since arriving in Russia, Orna has repeatedly been told conflicting stories by diplomats, police officers, and intelligence figures. Now that Gali has apparently vanished from prison, Orna is desperately seeking a way out of the swirling chaos.
Orna also wants answers about the deal involving Nadya Petrovski. She risked everything to convince Nadya to sign the appeal, believing it would create a path for Gali’s release. Yet when she confronts officials about the arrangement, she receives another shocking revelation. The Russian consul tells her that no such agreement was ever officially authorized.
According to him, Russia never approved a prisoner exchange involving Nadya and Gali. If that is true, then the entire operation that drove the previous episodes may have been based on misinformation or manipulation.
Meanwhile, the Israeli representatives remain equally unhelpful. Frustrated by the lack of progress, she decides to stop relying on officials and instead follow the clues Gali left behind herself. That decision ultimately leads her closer to the truth in Unconditional episode 5.
Who Orchestrated Gali’s Arrest?

Convinced there must be some connection, she tracks down one of the artist’s concerts and attends it herself.
There, she meets Roman, the guitarist associated with the song. She also finds out that Roman and Gali were entangled in a romantic relationship.
At first, Roman appears reluctant to talk. But as Orna pushes for answers, a much larger picture begins to emerge. Orna knows that Yuri Glaskov was not just a name or a musician since he was deeply involved in the illegal weapons and drug trafficking network that has haunted the story since the premiere episode of Unconditional.
Orna learns that the operation worked on an international scale and involved powerful criminal figures. Most importantly, Yuri had been stealing from an influential Russian oligarch who controlled significant portions of the network.
The oligarch allegedly used his wealth and influence to pay off airport security personnel, law enforcement officers, and other officials. Rather than allowing the legal system to handle Gali’s case, he orchestrated events behind the scenes to ensure she would be transferred into his control.
The revelation finally explains why Gali’s arrest felt so unusual from the beginning. It was never simply about drugs found at an airport. Powerful people were manipulating the process long before she was taken into custody.
Rita warns Orna that the oligarch is one of the most powerful figures in the region and possesses enough money and influence to make almost anything happen. If he wants someone arrested, hidden, or eliminated, few people are capable of stopping him.
Who Is Yuri Glaskov?
Talia Lynne Ronn in Unconditional | Credits: Apple TVWhile discussing the network, Roman reveals that Yuri Glaskov is not a real criminal mastermind at all. The name actually belongs to Gali.
According to Roman, Gali needed an alias to operate within the smuggling world and adopted the name Yuri Glaskov from one of Roman’s songs. Over time, the identity became the public face of the operation. The mysterious figure Orna has been searching for throughout the season, the person linked to fake passports, weapons trafficking, drug smuggling, and international crime, was her daughter all along.
The revelation in episode 5 of Unconditional completely transforms the story. For weeks, Orna has searched for the people responsible for corrupting Gali. Now she learns that Gali may have been leading the operation herself.
The episode then introduces another devastating possibility. The oligarch claims he has already taken revenge against Gali for stealing from him. In a chilling confrontation, he tells Orna that Gali was killed in a forest as punishment for her betrayal. Naturally, Orna refuses to accept the story. And neither does Roman.
He insists that Gali is still alive and claims the oligarch is holding her at one of his private properties. Whether Roman is telling the truth remains unclear, but his confidence gives Orna a reason to keep searching.
The final moments add one last twist to an episode already packed with revelations, where Roman addresses the oligarch as his father.
As Unconditional Episode 5 ends, Gali’s fate is still unknown. However, she is not an innocent victim caught at the center of a conspiracy, but the one who put everything in motion from the very beginning.
