Umamusume Officially Confirms Refunds After US Tour Ends in Disaster

An anime concert ticket is one thing. A flight across the country, a hotel reservation, and days of anticipation are another. For fans preparing to see Umamusume: Pretty Derby live in Los Angeles, the difference has become painfully expensive. Cygames has officially canceled the franchise’s October 22 and 23 concerts after failing to secure the necessary US visas, confirming that ticket refunds will be processed.

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby – 7th EVENT: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES concerts planned for Oct 22–23, 2026. Although we have coordinated repeatedly with all parties concerned and explored every possible option in our efforts to make this event happen, we were unable to obtain the necessary visas for entry into the US, so we have come to the painful conclusion that holding the concerts is no longer possible. To all the Trainers who were eagerly looking forward to the show, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern this causes, and for announcing this so close to the event date. Due to this cancellation, we will process refunds for the following: ・On-site viewing tickets ・Streaming tickets In addition, we are looking into possible responses to Trainers who were planning to attend the concert in person. This will take some time, so we ask for your patience. Details will be announced on the 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR official website. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes to all the Trainers who were eagerly looking forward to the concerts, as well as to the Umamusume cast, partner company staff, and everyone involved who put tremendous effort into making this event happen. However, the announcement leaves a much bigger question hanging over fans who planned entire trips around the performances: what happens to the money they have already spent getting there?

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby – 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES was scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theater on October 22 and 23, 2026. The two performances were supposed to bring the franchise’s distinctive blend of music, character performances, and horse-racing-inspired spectacle to American fans. Instead, both dates have been canceled just days before the curtain was due to rise.

Cygames confirmed the decision in an official announcement published on October 20, citing its inability to obtain the US visas required to stage the concerts. The company had already warned fans on October 19 that the necessary approvals remained outstanding, despite preparations beginning more than six months earlier with assistance from US-based lawyers and promoters. Organizers were still exploring possible solutions, but the final announcement confirmed that those efforts had not succeeded.

Cygames had publicly acknowledged the unresolved visa situation the day before making its final decision. Nevertheless, with the performances approaching and the necessary approvals still unavailable, the company said it had no choice but to abandon the shows. It apologized to fans for the inconvenience, concern, and short notice.

According to the official cancellation notice, refunds will be processed for both on-site and streaming tickets. The refund announcement also lists the official Umamusume and JTB Los Angeles tour package and live-viewing tickets among the arrangements eligible for refunds.

The Peacock Theater’s event listing separately confirms the cancellation and explains that tickets purchased through AXS online or by phone will be refunded automatically to the original payment card within 30 business days. Customers who purchased elsewhere should seek refunds through their original point of purchase. For other ticket categories, including the official tour package and live-viewing events, buyers should follow the relevant organizer’s instructions rather than assume that every refund uses the same process.

Fans Face Lost Travel Costs as Organizers Weigh Further Compensation

For fans, a canceled concert can mean much more than losing two evenings of entertainment. Some attendees may have booked flights, accommodation, local transportation, and time off work months in advance. When a cancellation arrives this close to the event, changing those plans can be expensive or impossible without taking a financial hit.

Cygames has acknowledged that problem, at least in principle. Its official cancellation statement says the company is considering possible responses for people who had planned to attend in person. Further details will be announced on the official 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR website, and organizers have asked fans to be patient while those arrangements are considered.

Additional assistance for in-person attendees is under consideration, not a confirmed promise to reimburse flights, hotels, or every other travel expense. As of October 21, the available announcements do not establish the scope of any additional compensation, its eligibility requirements, or when a decision will be made.

The disappointment also carries particular weight for a franchise whose appeal extends beyond its racing-themed game and anime. Umamusume: Pretty Derby has built a multimedia following around its horse-inspired characters, music, and live performances. For fans who had turned the Los Angeles shows into a long-planned trip, the cancellation has removed the centerpiece of that experience at the last minute.
