Sims 4 is the longest-running game from the franchise. It has been 10 years since the game was released, and it looks like the game is going to stick around for another 10 after EA confirms that a Sims 5 is not in the works.

The reason for discontinuing the ongoing tradition of adding a separate game sounds like a weird excuse to fans who have been waiting for an upgraded and new Sims game for a very long time now.

EA Gives A Weird Excuse For Not Releasing Sims 5

EA is being called out for its decision to not add another game to the Sims franchise after the 4th installment that was released 10 years ago. Rumors about a new game had been in the air for a while now, and EA has confirmed now that a new Sims game will not see the light of day.

The reason put forth by EA is a weird one. It said that the reason a separate new will not release is because it would cause players to lose a decade’s worth of gameplay, which it does not want to happen. The reason for not releasing a new game is due to the desire to maintain a long-term streak of the lives players have built for themselves in Sims 4 for the past 10 years.

There are around 80 million players worldwide playing Sims, according to EA, whom the developer does not want to start all over in a new game. This is one of the weirdest reasons anyone has given for not releasing a game.

‘THE SIMS 5’ is not in the works.

• Main reason is EA not wanting players to have to restart a decade’s worth of gameplay after ‘THE SIMS 4’

• A multiplayer mode is in the works for ‘THE SIMS 4’

Fans are claiming that the real reason behind the decision has little to do with progress and is instead about the profits that the game is gaining and the insecurity to let that go to venture into new territories. These are, however, just speculations and not facts.

Sims 4 Will Be Upgraded Instead

Instead of releasing a new game, the current Sims 4 will receive upgrades with enhanced graphics and other additions to the world that will enhance the current game’s gameplay. The game will get major bug fixes along with a new expansion pack, ‘Life & Death’.

There have also been talks about a rather mysterious game mode in the works titles, ‘Project Rene’ which was earlier believed to be the code name for Sims 5 but is now instead speculated to be an online version of Sims that will exist as a separate entity from the current game.

In the new era of Sims, there will be no replacements for the previous games, instead, the developer is set to work on only enhancing and expanding the current universe through updates.
