A 28-year-old Toronto man is facing more than a dozen weapon, drug and driving charges after a traffic stop netted loaded firearms and illicit substances.

Toronto Police said officers in the Queen St. W.-Denison Ave. area spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way on Sunday on a one-way street and found that the driver allegedly had open alcohol in his vehicle.

Police conducted a search of the accused’s vehicle and allegedly found two loaded firearms schedule I and III substances more than $10,000 in cash.

Juan De Leon was arrested and charged with 18 offences including possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Crash victim dies in hospital

Police continue to investigate what is now a fatal crash in Scarborough’s east end.

Toronto Police began investigating the collision on July 13 after responding to a call near Lawrence Ave. E. and Charlottetown Blvd. in the Port Union neighbourhood.

Police said a 91-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Corolla eastbound on Lawrence, while a 38-year-old woman was driving a Toyota RAV4 northbound on Charlottetown when the driver of the Corolla suffered a “medical episode.”

They said the Corolla ran a red light as a result and collided with the RAV4 before striking a building.

The elderly driver, who was rushed to a hospital at the time with life-threatening injuries, died on Saturday, police said.

Police continue to investigate the crash and are asking residents and businesses in the area and drivers near the scene at the time of the crash to contact investigators at 416-808-1900 if they have any video footage or other information.
