A 44-year-old Toronto man has been charged with murder in the slaying of Isaiah Peters Alexander, who was found injured Friday in a laneway in the York area.

Toronto Police said they responded to a medical complaint call Friday at about 2:15 a.m. in the Eglinton Ave. W.-Yarrow Rd. area, where an unresponsive male was found before first responders attempted to revive him.
The man was rushed to a hospital by paramedics, but was later pronounced dead.
Peters Alexander, 28, of Toronto, was identified as the victim of the city’s 15th homicide and police said that he had been shot.
Omar Peters was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder.

A 62-year-old Whitchurch-Stouffville man has been charged after more than $900,000 was allegedly transferred into his account fraudulently while holding power of attorney for a 95-year-old male.

In April 2025, Durham Regional Police began an investigation into a male suspect after it was alleged that he was fraudulently transferring funds from the victim’s account while acting as their power of attorney.
Investigators determined that about $900,000 had allegedly been transferred from the victim’s account without their knowledge or consent.
On Monday, investigators took a suspect into custody without incident. He was charged with theft by person holding power of attorney, theft over $5,000 and possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The suspect and victim are known to each other and the identity of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

MONTREAL MEN ACCUSED OF PRESCRIPTION FRAUD
Two Montreal men are facing multiple charges after allegedly committing prescription fraud at pharmacies in Oshawa.
On Friday around 2 p.m., Durham Regional Police responded to a fraud call at a pharmacy inside a Real Canadian Superstore at 481 Gibb St.
It’s alleged a male attempted to fill a prescription with a fraudulent documents and left in a waiting vehicle before police arrived.
A short time later, officers found a suspect vehicle at a second pharmacy in the King St. W.-Stevenson Rd. S. area with two suspects inside and they were taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle located fraudulent medication prescription documents and a large quantity of prescription medication valued at over $15,000.
Mohamed Oudha, 26, and Mohamed Boulfred, 39, were both charged with fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Boulfred is also charged with breach probation.

BANK FRAUD
A 39-year-old East Gwillimbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to fraudulently open accounts at multiple banks in Oshawa.
On Friday around 1:25 p.m., Durham cops responded to a fraud call at a Scotiabank at 2630 Simcoe St. N. It’s alleged a male attended the bank and attempted to open an account using fraudulent identification and officers took the male into custody without incident.
Kyle Ryan Cabral is charged with fraud under $5,000, three counts of possessing an identity document of another, uttering a forged document, obtaining identity information for fraudulent offence and two counts each of failure to comply with a probation order and personation to gain advantage.
